He has one bad game and people are talking Shit? Read three pages back mofos and remember how good he's been in all the other games. He's got the potential to be a great player, a bad game against a shit Turkish team doesn't even come close to changing that.

As much as i was pissed at him yesterday, i'd give him a chance at a 4 back formation. For obvious reasons i never trusted him and Caceres in a 3-man defence. But it has to be said this kind of performance is unacceptable, we would have been totally raped if this was against CL top teams.

He has one bad game. And then another one. And then again. And so on and so forth.

Even though "bad" is stretching it a little, I have to say I can't even recall seeing him have one single great or excellent game so far.

Still queuing for the toilet!

Well, that and a new job and everything that comes with it. In short, a tad too busy for my own liking. Plus, those few times I did drop by, my desire to post quickly vanished after reading one annoying post after the other :D

Caceres played on the left instead of him. Hmmm.......

Ogbonna seems to be a solid/decent/OKayish player. I don't see so much potential there.

Had he cost 5/7M it would be perfectly ok.

The problem is his price tag. 15M for an OKayish bench defender???? WTF.

But I'd wait next season for a definite judgement on him.

Excellent.

That pass to Marchisio in the build up to the first goal was superb.
Monster. I like this guy so much.
Bravo, Angelo :flag2:
Well played, played well.
He may end up being our top acquisition of the summer. The guy is legit.
It's hard to think that Bonucci will be better than Ogbonna in the future. Not even sure he's better than him now.
He was great today.
Intelligent player.
His confidence keeps growing and he keeps getting better and better.

I'm glad we signed him. And I'd easily play him ahead of Bonucci in 4 man defense.

He also seems quite decent as a LB.
I was so happy with this transfer in the summer, and I'm glad he's getting the chance to show what he can do.
No comments on how he played today? I thought he did well
He was really good.
I really liked him today.

He didn't make many mistakes and was quite solid defensively. He also made a couple of good forward runs where he went down on the left side but was ignored.

He's had more good games than bad. And his mistakes haven't led to us conceding or losing games iirc.

No need to react so negatively to a player that is still young and holding down a position where experience plays such a big factor. I still say that he is a bright player with the potential to be great. It would be awesome if Conte gave him more game time as I believe he is likely to become a mainstay in our team.

As for you not seeing him have a single great game so far, I don't know what to say. Perhaps your expectations are too high.

Liverpool are showing interest apparently. We paid good coin for him and probably haven't utilised him as much as we should have. Not easy for the likes of Ogbonna and Caceres to come into that 3 man defence and perform great when they are used sporadically.

Barzagli 33, Chiellini turning 30...I think we need to invest more time into younger defenders for when these guys are over the tipping point in form.

I guess he needs to disappear more often and activate stealth mode during games like Marchisio, maybe Buck Fuddy will give his clearance then

It's much easier to see a mistake from a misplaced pass or missed interception than it is for the ones Ogbonna would typically make. For him it's usually down to his positioning or reading of an attacking phase. For this reason I disagree about his defensive 'smarts'. What he does have going for him is incredible athleticism and ability to recover a situation.

I've always said he would suit the Premier League more than he does Serie A, as these kind of errors are not exposed as much in contrast to the more physical game required, which he excels at. If you look at someone like Mamadou Sakho, I know a few Liverpool fans are pleased with him so far but for me Ogbonna is more complete as a defender and better with the ball, he's less brainless.

Really we should be looking to develop him as the modern game, Serie A included, has been heading towards a faster and more attacking game. He's a modern type of defender.

I agree, he is a modern defender.

But I feel like Bonucci used to make plenty of positioning mistakes back in the day. Especially his first season with us. The only reason he doesn't do that as much anymore, is because his area of coverage is now smaller due to being between two other defenders.

And he's still young. No need to assume he'll never become better at reading the game. It's all about experience.
