The Epl teams have a lot of money to waste, they probably think thats a bargain, hopefully Marotta will make more sales, this is smth we have been hoping to see since his arrival, this could be amongst his best sales ever.
Marotta's limited skills are confirmed on the fact, that we yet again lose money after making a player from noone to a champion and we waste the cash we might gain frommthis, on a new noone (Zaza) but it could be a considerable improvement from Marotta's standards, he typically sells at maximum 40% of the price he buys a player...

I think it's a pretty fair deal for them. His profile is a backup player for the Serie A champs and CL finalists - one of the best defences around. He's still young and only costva little less than we paid for him.

Ogbonna was bought as a bench player from the start, what investment are you trying to pull here? How much did you expect him to go for? And being a champion is irrelevant if you don't get playing time, I can give you too many examples.

West Ham forums

I think we can ignore these fan's comments - they're probably clueless.
"We had scouts watching him at the champions league final before Bilic arrived. "

Were they impressed with how he sat on the bench? Good bench posture etc etc
Spoke to a Juventus fan at work, Italian bloke, he said Ogbonna was shit.

His family and friends in Italy, all Juventus fans, said he was shit............
no shit. :D

A quote from a Juve board from yesterday to balance off some of the others that have been posted and expresses some of my hopes and thoughts.

In response to him coming to England

"i hope so...
finally some playing time for what could have been
the best CB of the current generation if he would not have landed
on our bench.

good luck angelo "
 @DAiDEViL

As regards the Juve fans comments, they are so damning there must be an element of truth in them, unless racism is involved here.
:howler:

So we signing a donkey for 8m?
My mate lives in Turin and has a seat at Juve, he reckons he's fucking excellent and is quiet the coup for West Ham.
wat  'fucking excelllent' about Ogbonna. :lol2:

Some day when I have an extended period of time I will make a list of the positive comments going back say six months like you did but that day is not today.

But for now here are couple from yesterday.

"Is this really happening?

This move disgusts me. A player the quality of Ogbonna should have been involved in a bidding war.

12 million for a player of his quality , age, and physical ability.

Thanks a lot, Marotta. What a shame."
:D @King of Kings

My understanding is that he was one of the best defenders in Europe last season and will be an exciting new addition to the West Ham United squad.
Hopefully this Ogbonna can play - he just looks like a bit of a doofus - like a Carlton Cole in defence.
This is the atrocious Ogbonna clip I kept seeing on SSN when they were talking about Salah.

Someone please explain to me what the f*ck that is.

Way down deep in the middle of the Congo,
A hippo took an apricot, a guava and a mango.
He stuck it with the others, and he danced a dainty tango.
The rhino said, "I know, we'll call it Ogbonna"
Ogbonna, Ogbonna, They drink him in the Congo.
The python picked the passion fruit, the marmoset the mandarin.
The parrot painted packets, that the whole caboodle landed in.
So when it comes to sun and fun and goodness in the jungle,
They all prefer the sunny funny one they call Ogbonna!

And from this day on....he will simply be known as umbongo.

Is it just me, or does Ogbonna not look like a CB:

Strange then that we are after Angelo "baby face" Ogbonna who by some accounts was honking in a Juve back 3. Mind you he played 25 times as 1/3 of the defence in a team that won the league and got to the Champions League final so how bad can he be?
:beppe:

Laughs aside, imo he'll do good there, maybe regain his Torino form.

"....There are also comments about people going over the top negatively and about him not being white....."

"....I know a Juve fan, lives in the UK but obviously tries to see as much of them as he can.... he reckons Ogbonna is decent...."

"...My mate lives in Turin and has a seat at Juve, he reckons he's fucking excellent and is quiet the coup for West Ham....."

"..... I really wouldn't take anything written on a fans forum as any kind of benchmark of how good this player is/could be...."
