The size... oh the size... :sigh:

If I exchange my Desire, I could get it for about 30k. I could do the same with the One S and get it for about 20-23k depending on the actual price.

Also, since I'm quitting work soon, I'm not sure the One X would be a wise investment.

ok i know i might feel as an outsider in this thread, i've read a few pages and it def came in handy for my first post as an android lover!!!! oh yes ladies and gentlemen the coupling toke place today from 2 pm cairo local time until its inital battery died at 7:05 pm :D before jumping into this pool i asked sheik for his opinion, and watched numerous vids. from un-boxing vids to walk thru's ending with must have app's. i was torn between iphone 4g and samsung galaxy nexus. i'm happy i went with the later one. the nexus is a beauty to own for sure, and has won me over the minute i switched it over. the new icecream sandiwich is super fast, easy over all but i had some trouble with contacts stored on the sim card but we will get to that later.

things i love:

1- the screen!! the screen is the sex hand down and this not even on high brightness.
2- fast
3- browsing is awesome and this is coming from some one who has used safari on iphone 4 and ipod touch 3

things i dislike or frustrating

1- getting yr contacts from the sim card!! i to this minute have no idea how its done so i transferred the contacts from my phone via bluetooth
2- the volume even when maxed out is a joke!! ( dont worry i will shock you geeks in a min)
3- its a bit bigger than i imagined but i aint complaining its ok.

thats all for now.

i got all the im applications which is great, and social media stuff too. but my fav so far is an app called volume+ which fixes the problem with the volume of the ringer or even music out of the head set being low nearly un-hearable.

i will get power amp too for music to solve the music volume issues.

all in all i love this phone and i dont miss iphone or regret not getting iphone 4.

any tips or tricks are more than welcome, and if i stumble on a cool tip or app i will gladly share its awesome to be part of this at last!!

EDIT: managed to discover how to transfer contacts, i think i was not concentrating enough :D

Android Ice Cream Sandwich gets twice as fast thanks to Linaro, the future looks even brighter

There’s no arguing that Android could feel a little sluggish at times, especially when faced with less capable hardware. Even in its latest, Ice Cream Sandwich release, Google’s mobile OS feels like it could do with more code optimization. And that’s exactly what the Linaro team has done.

The indie developers created an optimized, faster and streamlined Android 4.0.4 build called Linaro, which performs up to 100 percent faster than the AOSP (stock) version. How they did it is hardly too interesting to anyone but programmers, but everyone will probably want to see final result of it all, measured via synthetic benchmarks.

The tests were conducted on identical boards, using the same amount of memory and the TI OMAP 4430 chipset (the one powering the Motorola RAZR) and the results speak for themselves. Check them out in the video below.

Sounds great, doesn’t it? And it’s about to get much better, as the CyanogenMod team has been considering implementing the changes in their ROMs. One particular dev couldn’t wait and just had to test it out himself. And the result? A CM9 Nightly with Linaro code in it runs beautifully on the Galaxy Nexus and user reports from early adopters have been extremely positive thus far.

Naturally, software optimization could only take Android so far, and Rosenkränzer acknowledges that and takes a glimpse into the future with Cortex A15 chips taking full advantage of the earlier optimization made on the current Cortex A9. So, Google, what are you waiting for? Hire those guys and make Android properly quick!
