I also read everywhere that the Franco kernel is great. What are your thoughts on that? (or on custom kernel in general)

Yeah, CM has the same UI on all devices except tablets. But it's still the fastest and slickest UE you can get from a ROM IMO.

I don't think the Desire has the Franco kernel. But it's all a matter of what works for you and what you need from a custom kernel.

I was using CM7 until yesterday, when I installed AceSMod007 3D ROM. Not the fastest ROM, but it has A2SD and Sense 3.0.

BTW, my phone is S-OFF'd and have a custom partition table that allows more space for apps on the phone.

Just updated my Sensation 4G to ICS and the messages app doesn't work. It just says Loading and that circle just keeps going. What could it be?

Finally flashed CM9 on my Defy
Forgot to backup apps, phone contacts and sms though (I have the Nandroid backup anyways )

Damn, no idea. You could either install a 3rd party SMS app like Handcent SMS and see if it works. If it doesn't, then try resetting your phone and see if that fixes the issue. Don't forget to backup EVERYTHING on the phone too.

Or else, you could visit community forums for your phone and see if others are facing the same issue, and see how they fixed it.
