Thanks a lot bro. I am looking for a ROM with elements of HTC Sensation. Something for a beginner like me. So, are you basically saying that I should not back up with Titanium Backup before I start flashing the ROM. Do I need to do anything like manual back up of the SD card?

Oh no no no. Backup EVERYTHING you need from the current ROM. SMS, contacts(if you don't sync with Google Contacts, that is), apps, and anything else that'll be wiped. You don't need to backup the SD card, cos flashing a ROM does not mess with the data on the SD.

But remember this, for all ROMS with A2SD+ or DATA2SD or DATA++, you'll need an ext3 partition on your CD card for the ROM to work. Or else, they won't.

It's Launcher Pro with some widgets. I have the clock widget but always forget what it's called, something along the lines of simi clock or something.

Yep, I have an HTC Desire, using LauncherPro. The clock is Simi Clock and the folders are from Simi Folder Widget.

You can save png files on your SD card and use them.

You can't use Sense widgets with LP, so if that's important to you, then you shouldn't use it. It does have some decent built-in widgets though, and it's very well maintained and updated (by one guy!)

It's personal choice, really. I find LP to be a bit more customisable, and I first installed it because it lets you hide apps from the App drawer (not sure if Sense can do that now). It's got some other little features like the ability to hold an icon over the trash can to uninstall it. It's very fast and responsive too.

I recently installed the Leedroid Desire HD port to my friend's Desire, and even though I don't use Sense, I was very tempted to try out that rom. It's very fast, polished and nice to look at.

It is indeed. I tried to flash the new update of InsertCoin 1.1.2, but I was stuck on a bootloop. Wiped data, and had the same thing. So installed CM7 temporarily, and my TB restore job did not go well. Lots of apps and their widgets missing. Everything seems broken. I think I'll go back to a sense ROM.

Yeah, I know, but I'm happy with the speed so far and the software generally. It's my first Android touchscreen so I'm still playing with it

The custom roms still arent fully stable and have some bugs (for example CM7 doesnt have functioning FM radio, which I like to use), so I'll just wait for the official GB update and then after a few months maybe I'll go custom

Its something like the operating system of the phone. Based on Android but changed and customized. Like a different version of Linux you can find. They're all Linuxes but different. So Instead of having the original factory software, you download one that has been made by the online community and replace the original one.

In addition, custom ROMs have various optimizations that make it faster than the stock ROM that's pre-loaded on the phone. Plus ROM updates are more frequent, and usually have bug fixes and additional functionalities that manufacturers will most probably never make/add.

Allthough because usually they dont have the whole source code, the custom roms might be deficient in some ways, missing some features that the stock rom has and might be unstable sometimes.

This is true. But the Desire, which Nenna has, is covered really well, and almost all the roms right now are full-featured.
