Your assessment is laughable at best. It is plain as day that Samsung not only modeled there hardware to mimic iphone but their touchwiz is a blatant rip off if iOS in appearance and most functionality. Ps apple will never face nokias fate. As of yesterday they are the most valuable company in the world!

In that price range, LG Optimus is the better phone... If you can stretch a bit, the Motorola Defy is a good option...
The optimus is €380, thats €160 more than the HTC and the Defy is only independently stocked.

If I trade in my phone, I'll get €40 off the HTC so get it for €180...

So is it a good phone?

Galaxy Ace is the only alternative but FUCK SAMSUNG

Majority of Apple's sales comes from their iPhones. Now that Samsung is eating into their market, Apple is feeling the heat. Nokia was world leader in mobile phones not so long ago... Look at them now. If you can't innovate and stay ahead of your competition, it's just a matter of time before you fail. Apple is hitting a brick wall by the look of things when it comes to innovation. The features Apple was boasting about in their iOS 5 presentation was dedicated camera button and notification bar... Seriously?

I think you are looking at the LG Optimus 2 and not the original LG Optimus.
Anyways, I know that the original Wildfire is a decent phone which was screwed up only by the insanely bad screen resolution. On the Wildfire S, HTC has put in a better screen. So it ought to be good. I haven't seen it in person, so I can't say that for a fact. We will wait for the Sheik :D

I guess u know Desire 2.3 update is out there now, but its not what people were waiting for, I guess.

Im thinking to root my phone and use a custom ROM, I have never done these kind of stuff. So what do u think I should do? Stick to the official or get a better ROM ?

What are the best ROMs out there? any good detailed step to step guide to root my phone ? and I need to backup all I have (call log\sms\app\games and..) what should I do ?

HTC Wildfire S

Thoughts? That is that absolute maximum I'll ever justify spending on a phone so I need a good appraisal, hopefully from Sheik.

Am I an Android guru here now? :D

Well, 3.2" screens have left a sour taste in my mouth. Especially once I tasted the 3.7" screen on the Desire with the 800x480 resolution, I could never go back to 3.2". BUT, considering thatnot everyone's needs are same as mine, I don't mind recommending it to you. I've had a hands on with the original Wildfire but not the Wildfire S. And seems like there's a bump in screen resolution, which should make things looks better.

But if there is any way you can get an Android phone with a bigger screen for the same price range, then go for that one. If not, the Wildfire S is a pretty good phone.

Make sure you read the review from GSM Arena.

Since this 2.3 update is pretty much the last update that HTC will provide, there's no reason to stick with the official ROM.

ROOT THAT BITCH!

Guide for rooting using UnrEVOked, the best rooting solution for the Desire: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044

Make sure you follow the steps to create a Goldcard. It's needed if you want to revert to a stock HTC ROM if rooting fails.

Backup call logs(though do you really need to?): https://market.android.com/details?id=com.riteshsahu.CallLogBackupRestore&feature=search_result

Backup SMS: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&feature=more_from_developer

Backup APN's(just in case): https://market.android.com/details?id=com.riteshsahu.APNBackupRestore&feature=more_from_developer

As for backing up apps, you could use Titanium backup, though you won't lose any apps or data just by rooting. So once you finish rooting, you can install TB, backup all your apps, and then go by installing a new ROM.

I tried to update my mobile software, and now it died,

Don't think it's dead. It's just in Fastboot. Have you tried pulling the battery?

I'm not sure to what extent will Flash Lite impair usage. Flash will let you display Flash-based websites(like redtube, youjizz, etc.) on your browser properly, not to mention streaming movies through those sites. I'm not sure how much you'll enjoy it on such a small screen though. So it's up to you to choose. Make sure you have a hands-on with the phone before you buy it.

Ok, I think I successfully rooted my phone. I Installed titanium backup in it says OK (busybox 1.18.4) to root access. Is everything allright now ? :D

So, what about ROMs ? what are the best ROMs ? I kinda liked htc Sense so I wouldn't mine a Gingerbread with sense ROM again.
