training has started for 3 days now and still no info about what formation he is using on training.

that means he is using many different ones trying to decide which is best.

that means he can't make up his mind.

the only thing worse than a coach who refuses to change is a coach who changes his mind every game.

we are doomed

Well, to be honest he needs to test things because this team has many issues and he will have to adapt and see what of what he was thinking works, and what doesnt.

Dont be surprised if we are 4 or 6 games into the season and still without starting 11 or formation set in stone

Who thought pirlo was arriving with an intended formation from day 1? I expect him to experiment and find out more about the players in training before deciding. His only issue is the short break so as others have mentioned it will probably be well into the season befoee understanding who fits where and how.

If we do want to play 343, we should be looking at young wingers to convert into wingbacks.

Alphonso Davies style

I honestly think that Chiesa would make an amazing wingback

People get obsessed with formations as if they rigidly stand on a field in those areas. Pull Alex Sandro back to defend and it's a back 4 again with Danilo at right back and Cuadrado or other at right midfield, even a back five if required.
And people who don't understand the importance of formation don't have any clue about football. Formations define your approach to the game and set the tune for the rest of the match. And also is important to use a formation that puts all crucial players in their preferred position, not out of it.
So whomever says formations aren't important shouldn't be taken seriously .

We should go for Chiesa if Zaniolo is not possible this summer. Then worry about his position (and the formation in general) later
Chiesa can play on the left, on the right, and through the middle. He has pace, he’s two footed, and he works very hard.

He’s not a superstar in the making but he could be a super useful player to have

He would be replacing DC so thats a +1 player most of the times without even looking further. Then he can offer rotation all over the front line and a tactical option from the bench. If we then get Zaniolo in a year hed still have a place in rotation
