I agree with the responses above, but they were seriously the kinds of responses I was hoping to avoid. Let me ask again and rephrase the question a bit, do you know of any deep lying playmaker in Italy that has the potential to be good enough to play for us (since we most likely won't get Verratti)? Are the media prepping up some young punk (other than Verratti) to be the next Pirlo (even though we know that he NEVER EVER EVER EVER will be a as good!!!!)?

He doesn't have legs for it anymore. Both Conte and Prandelli play him all the time. He is a legend but he was lucky enough to win WC so it's not that bad. Verratti and DDR will replace him properly.
I disagree. He played very well and could've given more. Now instead he gets to go back home as part of a team that disgraced their country. Morale is what I'm worried about now, not his legs.

I'm discussing the future only though. What happened this WC is definitely a bad thing for him because he was one of the brightest players but it's all over and can't be changed.

Judging from all three games, he was the best Italian player no doubt about it.
