That was when he was carrying his 11-12 form into the Euros.He is in a worser form now and giving too many balls away.

In the Euros, there were only 2-3 decent teams. In the CL, there is far more quality.

It is also, traditionally at least, easier to raise your game for a few matches over the course of a month, than it is to stay focused/switched on throughout the course of an entire season.

If we keep him for another season Conte should look to get the best out of him by playing every 2nd game instead of being first pick all the time. If we still rely on Pirlo after this season then something is wrong because we need new ideas and must move on. Well everyone has its bad days. I think the the combination of being manmarked too much, with his inability to be himself in the last games is frustrating him.

But yeh, rules are rules.. he needs to go to the bench if Conte wants it.
