“I have great respect for everything that Atalanta are doing, but without international history and thanks to just one great season, they had direct access into the primary European club competition. Is that right or not?” said Agnelli.

lol, such a stupid thing to say

Such a fucken stupid argument, it just makes him come of as a prick.
One of the best things about a league is when an underdog gets up and fights for a cl place, otherwise what the point of them fighting for third.

Atalanta have shown a fuck ton more fight in Europe than us this year too, so i don't see his autistic point, more people would be drawn into our league by watching Atalanta play in the cl compared to the fucking shite we have shown thus far.

He essentially said that you don't deserve to be among the elite because you haven't had enough games at the elite level. But you won't have enough games at such a level if you are excluded from it in the first place. If this guy hasn't realized what he said, then everything, unfortunately, makes perfect sense now, including people he surrounded himself with.

Also, is he sure that this club will be ready to compete with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester City, PSG, etc.? One of the reasons this club is among the elite now is that they are Italian champions. In Super League they will probably make more money, but will they be able to win at least one trophy in ten years? Does he really believe that the league format is the only missing piece for his club's success? If no, he should probably win the CL first. Actually, if the club quits this tournament before finally winning it it will be quite pathetic.

Next up he will probably ask for no relegation system for this so called super league so it becomes a buddy buddy consortium like american sports league are.
:inter:

I wonder how long it's gonna take for all the spoilt fans of big clubs to be fed up with finishing 5th or so. Imo shit is gonna be boring rather quick.

AA won't mind i guess - as long as the money is right.

If football restructures so the CL is a fucking league and Agnelli keeps going on like this i'm finally washing my hands of football.

How the fuck can you support the club when your president is trying to make football even more predictable and dull than it already is

What is happening to him?
Main reason why games against big European teams attract as much attention is that those encounters are few times per year, at most. Super league would be an absolute hit for a year or two but soon it would lose its novelty and interest would start to fade away. This would be further exacerbated by the fact that all those 'super teams' and their fans are use to winning trophies, which wouldnt be possible any longer on a regular basis. Imagine Juventus at the bottom of the league for instance, or Bayern, and how many of their fans would want to go back to domestic leagues then? I feel majority. Its not all about fucking money and plusvalenza.

What an idiot for saying this.

Too bad if you support a small club because the fact you're small you can't dream and set goals.

I don't know who this Agelli is anymore.
