in an crazy attempt to explain the current situation regarding transfer dealings i think there is the chance that the board does think that there are no really good defenders available on the market, so they try to get players that do offer us more than just a defender we probably overpay for.

in fact a good player that does not exactly have to be defensive minded can help preventing conceding goals. hell, even a forward could do that (under certain circumstances).

if ferrara thinks there are no good defenders available that would fit in his system, then so be it. please stop always knowing better than the people actually in charge.

many of you welcomed ferrara as coach, so please respect his plans and don't always act like you would know better, because you don't.

i don't think ferrara is told by the board that he is not getting the players he wishes (defenders for example), because secco likes midfielders so much. that is ridiculous.
You cunning CR lover, how dare you blaming Ferrara for Secco's, CR's and our board's incompetence???

Ferrara asked for better defenders and starters, but our board has failed him!!
Ferrara asked for Criscito, it is not his fault, Secco lost, him because of the clause he should never add!
Ferrara asked for better starters, it is not his fault that our board has wasted our funds for our five year plan on nobodies and useless squad players!!

We will judge Ferrara by his own actions and choices, not others.
He has to work with a handicap and he doesnt have the authority or prestige to impose his own will. Thats exactly why they picked him!

The havent failed Ciro yet, the mercato starts tommorrow, they cant have failed him already. But the Criscito thing is a mistake of a year ago, not one of now, there is no way Genoa wouldnt buy him, no matter what we do, they had contractual right to buy his half, pretty much inevitable. So they didnt fail Ciro with that now, but let see how they will address whatever Ciro's needs are with the rest.

Obviously D'Agostino is clearly a player Ciro is a fan of, and they have tried all they can to get him, and he also likes Santacroce, and I see us getting him.

so give me a helping hand to understand you cronios.

do you have a link to a interview with ferrara where he stated that he does want more/new defenders after the time that the cannavaro deal was sealed ?

i do not follow every article and interview about ferrara so i might easily have missed how he demands defenders (which our board do deny him).

Andre Santos would take Juventus over AC Milan

Juventus are being offered the chance to trump AC Milan for Brazil defender Andre Santos.

The highly-rated Corinthians fullback is a target for Milan coach Leonardo, but he actually would prefer a move to Turin.

Andre Santos said: "Leaving Brazil for Juve would be the best.

"In Turin I would feel at home. I like my countrymen Diego and Amauri, I would settle easily there."

Meanwhile, Zdenek Grygera could be on the move this summer.

The former Ajax defender is a target for Panathinaikos coach Henk ten Cate, though is reluctant to move to Greece.

La Stampa says Juve chief Alessio Secco already is planning for life without Grygera.

When he took over he declared that and if you check the Criscito (he said that he is in his plans for the next season) and Grosso (who would be a great addition to our defense) threads, you will find reports that host Ferrara's comment on them and our need to upgrade our defense.
It also reported that he is keen on Santacroce too.
He respects Treze and he believes in Marchisio and i believe that he wouldnt set as a priority to have the replaced with Pandev and Dago.

As an experienced defender, he is aware of our weak fullbacks and he would like new ones. But it is not his decision to make.
It is unfair to blame him for that, even before the season starts.
Our board would only approve extra funds for our priority right now (which means, for them an Italian attractive to watch midfielder that would attract more fans and offer some spectacle. (Dagostino)

Canna and the plans for Grosso also respect that strategy of attracting interest,
by adding hyped Italian player, the Italian supporters appreciate!
Since the defense of our NT lost some prestige in the confederation cup, the reason to bring fades away. If we were respecting Ferrara's wishes and not the hype, our priorities wouldnt change...

@virtual: we might not have gotten along in the past but I like what your saying. Some good points!

@cronios: so what you're saying is the board is trying to bring in hyped up italian players to sell tickets? Is that accurrate? If so, I don't think that is the case, diego will sell more than d'ago and canna would that's for sure.

I never read tribalfootball and all I hear is its bad reviews. It would be nice if this guy would actually prefer us over AC. Some of you guys think its a bogus article (I'm not saying either), it would just be a boost for us if it was true that we have players choosing us over AC for a change. I miss those days....

I really wish Ciro would come out and say what his market plans are, position wise what his priorities are. Not necessarily name drop.

So we get approx 5-6m for Grygera, I hope that's enough to get that spot covered and if DC stays our wingback situation is settled. Honestly, I'd like to see DC be given a fair shot at LB like molinaro was last year. Nobody knows him better than Ciro.

I hate it when rumors link us to a good player then all of a sudden the hope fades away. Get him Secco before the CM, please.

I see a lot of his games here in Brazil... he's a great LB... the videos from YouTube are from last year when Corinthians was in Serie B... now in Serie A and Brazil Cup... he's playing better than last year and he increased his defensive side... he's much better than Molinaro, Grosso and Dossena.

Juve should also try to get MF Paulo Henrique from Santos... this guy is talented!!

How good is he defensively though?

From what I saw in the Confederations Cup he wasn't really tested very often. And when he was, he didn't look convincing. Altidore and Dempsey got by him a few times and so did Pienaar.

Oh yeah, that's right. Cannavaro will also teach Santos how to defend through telepathy. He doesn't need to learn Italian. Fabio is just that good.
