That's not true imo. They have many quality left backs, but for some reason Dunga doesn't call them up.

Aurelio, Maxwell, Marcelo and Filipe as your first 4 choices, not many NT's can top that.
I was looking at the squad they took to South Africa (because he is probably the best there, and gets games as a left back). I'd would have included 2 of the names you mentioned in the squad to replace him and Kleber though.

Bit baffled at some of Dungas choices though, in all areas.

i already got one, thank you

sorry to answer your intelligent postings in a way that your intellect can't comprehend so you resort to writing "get a life" to someone who obviously got more real life than you.

you do not even know how to differentiate between a full back and a wing back so what do YOU want to tell me ?

you probably go to the partner school/college of andy ... there are quite some similarities in your well educated posts. perhaps you should resort to name calling or insulting now to show how well your parents raised you ....
    Obviously? Why?

"Get a life" because you started a debate out of nothing. Don't cry he's an amazing offensive talent. Pray for someone who will upload some defensive heroic actions.

Judging from that video this kid would be better suited as a LM not LB. I agree with v1rtupoop, we can't exactly say he's a good LB unless you've seen him in action making some good tackles.
But dear god he looks great when he's attacking. He's gotta be LB and not LM for a reason though. Anyone witnessed this kids defensive capability?

Our board has old school thinking. THe chances to buy a non Italian defender, are slim. The chances to buy a Brazilian defender are...

No the chances of us buying a good non Italian defender are slim - Mellberg, Knezevic, Zebina, Grygera.
You forgot Molinaro he's from a completely different planet with different species.

From what I saw, he is fast and that will do to mark some space in defense.

We need LB who is more dangerous in attack. I read some article here regarding L/R B and their contribution in success.
This kind of dangerous LB will make opponent think about the defense and not attacking us on the wing :)

This is now my first pick for LB !!!

Here’s what I saw in the game last night.

First of all I think Santos played a quite decent game and his substitution was solely based on tactical changes. I.e. Dunga bringing on the gung ho attacking Dani Alves. There were plenty of Brazilians who did worse and deserved the substitution more.

    Attacking abilities
A pair of tactical considerations needs to be taken into account before judging though. First of all, it seemed pretty clear that Andre Santos was told by Dunga to keep the defensive balance whenever Maicon came forward(which was all the time). His field position was 10 also about meters deeper than Maicon’s. Second, Robinho (who was absolutely crap) didn’t keep his attacking positions, but kept going wide left and therefore often blocking the attacking positions Andre Santos should be taking. I.e. he was ruining more or less all initiatives from the left.

These two things meant that Andre Santos never really put his mark on the game offensively as much as he could have. Constantly keeping back instead of giving the team some of the offensive runs the team so desperately needed. However he did come forward three times in the first half and they were the best three chances Brazil had all half.

However that also meant he never really was able to show us how good he really is offensively. We never really saw a cross that needed to be quality or a breakthrough that showed anything extraordinary. so we didn’t really get any answers there apart from perhaps his ability to stick to the coaches tactics (however lousy they might be). Or (depending on the mood) perhaps his lacking courage in breaking the tactical bonds given to him.

    Defending abilities
Was again hoping to see more but the early goals from USA, meant he never really got pressured over periods of time. However we did get to see that Tim Howard consequently put his goalkicks straight at his man, and that he won every single heading duel given (big plus there).

On the negative side, you could (unfairly) say he got caught on middle grounds on both goals:

    - On the first he gave away a free cross, but from a position where this should be allowed.

    - On the second he lost his marker in the two on two counter. But that was IMO just a class counter attack, and well deserving a goal.

However more alarmingly (and worth keeping an eye on. He did get a stupid yellow in a duel that never should be a problem, and generally seemed a bit clumsy going into physical duels, however winning most.

    Conclusion
Tactically he seems more right than e.g. Grosso or Molinaro, and qualitavively he seems okay. But we probably need a different type of game to really judge how he would fit into our team and at least how well he would stand up to a different kind of pressure in e.g. Champions League.

I remember 4 cross attempts from him. One was headed just over the bar, one was headed in the net by Kaka (no goal), one was headed clear and one was a low cross cut out. So I was reasonably impressed by his crossing. Unfortunately Robinho kept forcing Santos to play in the middle so we couldn't see more crosses. But we did see a nice run by Santos and a good shot on net.

He got outmuscled by Altidore who is one of the stronger players around and I thought he made some strong headers in his box. I would rate his defense as average at the most, however. His attacking is right up there though IMO.

he might b a LB in brazil, but doesn't mean he'd b one in italy. dani alves is a very offensive RB. cicinho and mancini started as RBs. i guess cicinho still plays there (if u can say that) but mancini is now seen as a winger. marcelo is certainly not a LB anymore, no matter what real madrid thinks.
