I struggle to see how Marrotta would bid 30 + 20m for Gomes. That would effectively make him his largest ever transfer fee. Gomes might be a good player but I doubt he is as good as those numbers suggest. I could see him stretching to close to 30m with very small bonuses but not beyond that.

There are a lot of bogus rumours around that the press make sound is a reality. I suspect we have expressed "interest" on Gomes, Cavani etc. Just because you express interest doesn't mean you are anywhere close to a deal.

The only certainties are the fact that Lemina is now 100% ours (9.5m) and Caceres is out (expiry of contract). Marotta has also said that Morata and Cuadrado is up to Real Madrid and Chelsea respectively. In both cases, the clubs have either not decided or have decided but have chosen not to make it public.

What is also becoming somewhat apparent is the option to purchase Berardi for 25m is a gentlemen's agreement and not in writing.

It's hilarious how people still not realizing by now that 30 million euros mean nothing for top clubs plus epl teams today...

Sadly the levels of cash that will be used by Europe's richest clubs this close season will break record spending levels.

The clubs I am thinking of are Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Liverpool and possibly, though much less likely, the Milan's and Atlético.

The fact that Juventus have win 5 consecutive scudetti on a transfer strategy which at times has veered form extreme parsimoniusness to fairly generous (Dybala) is remarkable.

Personally, I have feeling that the club has reached a crossroads in its financial appraisal of the future in terms of where it stands, vis a vis having the depth and quality of resources to win scudetto 35 and the Champions league in May 2017. I imagine that Allegri, Marotta, Patrici, Agnelli and Nedved have already discussed the matter in some depth in recent days and weeks with a view to making not 1 but 2 key landmark signings to move us up to the "next level". Just Cavani and Berardi (say)* and a quality defender will only solve part of the issue in moving up to that next level

Whatever happens, I'm pretty sure that of the half dozen or so deals that will be completed before the start of the new season, half of them will be under €10m, even if Marotta and Zaza are jettisoned.

Catenaccio's belief that Gomes at 30+ 20 is "unrealistc" is understandable based on our previous dealings inder Agnelli/Marotta. However, I have a lot of confidence that the outcome of our mercato in August will be that when we evaluate the quality of our market dealings we will be looking at the 8/10 or 8.5/10 ballpark.

Yes. All up including bonuses its around 40m. Gomes at 30 + 20 could be bigger - that's why I think its unrealistic.
the bonuses would probably be harder to achieve than those of Dybala, so he might end up costing anything from 30M to 50M depending on how good he/we turn out the next 2-3 seasons

One thing is clear...this coming year the spending will be considerable. There are numerous variables that means spending, like Morata (or his replacement), Cuadrado,Gomes, Berardi, a defender or 2 and who knows what more.

Also, more money for Pogba etc.

The thing is, like Buffon and Allegri said...we need to compete with the idea to get the CL trophy and for that we will need to get ambitous with the spending, but ambitious and intelligent spending.

Not even close .
I would put in a cheeky bid for Carvajal or Danilo, none of them are exactly starters there at Madrid, and if they come to us, playing about 25 matches for one season and then becoming the starter the season after, kinda like Alex Sandro.
Not sure if we can get either of those for less than 30, Madrid don't always make the smartest sells though.

I really can't think of any better RFB

Carvajal would be my favourite RB, but Real won't sell for sure , Danilo would improve here , he kinda floped @RM , it seems he isn't that good at defending .

Another RB i would like to see would be Bruno Peres .

Carvajal is overrated imho, nothing special in him, rich man Arbeloa, do not want him here. Danilo on the other hand would be a dream signing, he can be as good as Sandro for us and after this season his price should be lower.

I think we really just need to focus on a great RB for the defense transfer this coming season, as I see Licht becoming our RCB to take over Caceres to cover Barza, and Evra as the LCB to cover Chiello, with Rugani covering Bonbon.

Spend all the budget on that defense on the RB instead of even trying for Benatia or Mustafi, extend Evra's contract for 1 more season.

Bruno Peres doesn't impress me much, and Carvajal really steps up usually on the big games, he used to anyway, I havent watched Real at all this season.

I like that Monchengladbach right back when playing against us anyway, whats his name Nordveit? I heard some of my friends who likes Eredivisie talk about Arias as the next best thing, not sure how true that is though..
