dunno, he's only 22, and already looks like a mature player. tall, strong, contributes to both attacks and defense, pretty creative, a good passer as well. he's pretty slow and easy to tackle though. he seems to me like a khedira type of player who won't win matches but offers balance in the midfield. as a marchisio/khedira backup, he'd be more than fine.

beppe, keep pogba ffs. i can't help but think all these midfielders would be some damage control.

Backup ? When did we start buying 40M+ backups ? This signing if it goes through, would be somewhat Alex Sandro-esque. A talented player who will eventually start for us.

you've already answered your question: sandy in his 1st year was a backup for evra. i can see the same happening to gomes, too.

Its my 3rd language too. I would say 'rotation option/rotate' is more appropriate than 'backup'

The term Backup is more appropriate for players like Padoin,Hernanes etc imo
