You need someone experienced to pair with Chiellini... I don't mean a 36yr old with another year to go but a very good 28-30 yr old who can give at least another 5 yrs to the cause... Chiellini needs to learn to organize the defence or he needs someone who'd organize it for him... We don't need another CB with the same capabilities as Chiellini...
Yes. I understand now. Thanks. So if that's the case what defenders are out there that fit the description and there is a realistic chance of getting this summer?

Here is what our defense looks like right now:

RB:

Grygera
Zebina

CB:

Legro
Chiellini
Mellberg
Knezevic
Ariaudo

LB:

Molinaro
De Ceglie

I would personally dispose of Zebina, add a new quality RB, and keep Grygera as backup. RB problem solved.

As for the CB's, it looks like we will be getting Canna. We need another quality/potential WC CB. We can then loan out Ariaudo and sell Knezevic. Keep Mellberg (for his versatility) and Legro as backups, and of course Chiellini as a starter. CB issue resolved.

The LB position is tricky. What do we do with De Ceglie? Assuming we are recalling Criscito from Genoa, and the fact that he should be a definite starter (unless he will be played as CB), that leaves Moli and DC fighting for the role of substitute LB. I say either loan out DC, develop his skills as LB, or utilize him as a backup LM. I think what could be done here is that we could rotate all three, with Moli playing LB sometimes, whereas Criscito can alternate between LB and CB, and DC between LB (as long as he hones his defensive skills during the summer) and LM.

completly agree, imo if we buy a WC CB then we can start the project with DC as a LB. If this not gonna work, mollinaro can step in for his last season here at juve :agree: (...). then DC could be sub to Mollinaro and sub as LM. Criscito can compte for LB an CB so our defense would be ready for next season - ofc only we buy a WC CB:juventus:

With Canna present and Legro and Mellberg craving for a chance to play, i dont think Criscito will have any chance to be used as CB.
So its safe to assume that he and Moli will share the LB spot.
I think that we will keep DC until we see how our LBs and LMs established.
We might loan him out at x-mas.

A new RB to permanently replace Zebina and convert Grygera into a sub, is a MUST!!
Even Vialli saw that;
“Diego is a great coup, but he alone will not be enough. In order to get back to being a great side, Juve have to think about strengthening other departments.”
And Garganese who always quotes my posts has gone one step further;
"The full-backs are simply not good enough, although Fabio Cannavaro will add steel and experience to the centre. If Cristian Molinaro, Zdenek Grygera and Olof Mellberg are still regular starters next season, then Juventus will win nothing! "

Unfortunately, by choice, our CB issues will persist...

What if we get a new manager who doesn't believe at all in Molinaro and would use Criscito and DC for the LB position?

And as you claim, Molinaro is Ranieri's favourite player, don't you think if Ranieri leaves he will take Molinaro with him?

I think it's way to early to speculate anything as we don't know who will lead the club next season.

I dont ever dare of dreaming that, but you have a strong point there.
The new coach will have a word on that (unless its someone like Conte)
By now, we should know the roles of DC and Giovinco, but CR never game them the chance for that. Hopefully the new coach will and it will be wiser to decide on our needs and priorities after that!

The situation on our right flank is crystal clear though!!
Zebina+Marchionni out!! New starter RB and a quality young RM, able to replace Camo in a couple of years and replace him when injured/suspended!

an a way I would be happy if we did sell him
I always like him but I think he has made himself impossible at the club
with Diego we really need to change tactics and Trez won't fit in a 4-2-3-1 in my opinion
the one upfront would be Amauri's spot, Trez lacks the power to be the lone wolf up front
besides we need his transfer money to strengthen our defence

Just to be sure, you would be extremely happy if we sold Trezeguet?
After his and his agent comments, yes I would be extremely happy if we sold Trezeguet. He is just bitching around. Ranieri had always faith in Trezeguet; he was out for 4 months and he let him start in the most important match in the season and subbed him at the end of it. Why on Earth have he started saying I will leave? He should've thanked God that he played an important match like this. Let him go after his premier league ambitions in Man City; btw, that comment about the premier league was so disrespectful. Consequently, I want him out and don't get a replacement because 3 strikers are enough.

Trez is unhappy, that's for sure
we must strengthen our defence so put two and two together
sell Trez and buy quality defender(s)
in a 4-2-3-1, we need Amauri upfront with Iaquinta as his backup
we have an exiting lineup and Trez is happy wherever he goes
problem solved

We should try to snap up a player from Roma since they have depths and wont be playing in the CL. Maybe Juan, Mexes or Cicinho?

That assumes that Ranieri will remain in football management. This post at Juve could well be his last.

Cronios is right in re-emphasizing the need to concentrate our resources in the defensive full back positions, I'm pretty much certain that in order to strenthen our right side that our primary focus shoule be on signing Lorenzo De Silvestri.

De Silvestri plays as an attacking right back. His pace is useful for his attacking runs up the wing, and possibly his greatest attribute. Since making his debut, De Silvestri has continued to improve the technical and tactical aspects of his game under the guidance of manager Delio Rossi, and is becoming a very valuable player. He is widely regarded as one of the most promising talents of his generation.

Maldini has rated Domenico Criscito very highly and his continuing improvement at Genoa this season makes his return to Turin a no-brainer. Looked at against Molinaro he is undoubtedly a better player. No fee is involved so in selling Jonathan Zebina or Zdeněk Grygera and Dario Knežević this should help towards financing a left sided attacker.

Whilst David Silva is commonly thought to be an obvious target, I'm afraid that Rafael Benitez at Liverpool in one last desperate throw of the dice - now that Manchester United have all but won yet another EPL title - will persaude the Liverpool owners to splash the cash for Silva and given the fact that there are more Spaniards than English players at the club the Valencia player would probably opt to play there.

So the question is who would fit the bill as an alternative to David Silva?

Assuming we persist with Mauro Camoranesi, the starting XI may well look like this:-

---------------------------------- BUFFON------------------------------

--DE SILVESTRI----CANNAVARO ---- CHIELLINI----CRISCITO---

-----------SISSOKO-----------------------MARCHISIO---------------

CAMORANESI--------------------DIEGO-----------------------------

-------------------------AMAURI/IAQUINTA------------------- ???????????-----

So the position looks rocky for Sebastain Giovinco, Alessandro Del Piero, Marco Marchionni, Hasan Salihamidžić, Christian Poulsen and those I've mentioned above.

Iaquinta will surely be knocking on the door for a starting place. David Trezeguet will almost certainly be leaving and the sale proceeds will go towards the Silva/left-sided starter.

The best prospects for the bench would be:-

Alex Manninger, Olof Mellberg, Nicola Legrottalie, Tiago, Alessandro Del Piero, Sebastian Giovinco, Zdeněk Grygera and Albin Ekdal.

Why buy AML when you have the best AML in Italy: Sebastian Giovinco

Is that the preferred position for Giovinco then?

If so, we are in agreement.

A Juventus supporting correspondent of mine (based in Italy) is of the belief that the following will happen:-

Players in Diego, Cannavaro, Criscito, Moretti and Pizarro for sure.

Players out Trezeguet, Tiago, Zebina Camoranesi(Ranieri), Palladino, Zalayeta, Giovinco(Ranieri) Lanzafame.

Certain returns Paolucci and Rossi.
