Yeah I think so,those four mentioned - Criscito are on the wrong side of 30 & I think Criscito will be mainly utilised as a LB.Besides its best we get a promising CB now instead of waiting for another 2/3 years because the BOD will say we over spent on Diego as an excuse.

Chiellini is 24. Even if they use Criscito as a left back they can still revert him to the center if necessary.

I wasnt referring to Chiellini he's a starter no doubt but we need another quality CB unless they are counting on Ariaudo to improve in leaps & bounds.

Of course we need defenders. That is our weak point, our Achilles heal at this point in time. Have you seen how horrendous our defending has been over the past couple of months?

Our backline doesn't inspire confidence, and the list of names we have for the defence doesn't instill comfort into the hearts of the Juventus Tifosi, and probably brings a smile to our opponents faces

With the purchase of Diego looking inevitable, :xfinger: the acquisition of Cannavaro almost secured, :frown: and the recall of Criscito in the pipeline we can say we are covered in midfield (barring a decent backup for Camo; someone who can adequately and competently fill in for him when he is out injured, which is like 70% of the time) and offense; however, we still need a very good (potential WC) center back to partner Chiellini, and a quality RB to add that extra dimension to our game.

I agree, we clearly need defenders. Cannavaro, Legro, Mellberg might not be able to secure the other CB spot next to Chiellini. We should get a younger and promising defender and sell Mellberg or something. Criscito should also be adapted to DL. Then we should get Motta or someone who could play the DR position.

I don't really rate Santacroce; we could do better. We shouldn't sell Mellberg; he is actually a quite solid sub, isn't young anymore, and thus won't fetch a good amount of money (in terms of his transfer fee) on the market.

Zebina and Knezevic should be our departures from the back line.

yes, i agree we don't need cassano or quagliarella, especially if Trez stays:xfinger: . But we should definitely not settle with cannavaro and criscito on defence. Pretty sure if criscito comes he will be deploy in LB position and Cannavaro should take Knezevic's place in the squad. We NEED a young WC CB to partner up Chiellini or one that already has his foot to be one. I Believe Fabiano Santacroce is the One. Young, super talented, and doesn't like getting punk by other players and he'll play in the italian squad in the near future. Juve should definitely look at this kid before Milan or Inter get their hands on him first.

Why not??. he's been pretty solid this season and last. he's fast, his marking is good. I think he'll be a good fit in the squad.

You need someone experienced to pair with Chiellini... I don't mean a 36yr old with another year to go but a very good 28-30 yr old who can give at least another 5 yrs to the cause... Chiellini needs to learn to organize the defence or he needs someone who'd organize it for him... We don't need another CB with the same capabilities as Chiellini...

Santacroce is very good, but he still has discipline problems as he is young and rash in his decision making at times.

We need someone calm and calculated, a leader who can organize the team from the back, and more importantly pass the ball, not just hoof it up the field. I am sure there is a Vidic, Ivanovic, or Corluka out there somewhere.

Where are our Balkan friends? Any good defenders coming out of Eastern Europe and the Balkans who are 26+?

Legro is 33, and he isn't really that caliber defender we are talking about. He overachieved at the beginning, but he was never a Ferrara, Montero, Cannavaro or Nesta (in their prime) type of defender.
