When you look back it is amazing just how many goals we concede down the right side or because Grygera is playing someone onside.
It's a big problem and i don't think it's a coincidence anymore. I believe the other coaches are aware of that and teams keep attacking our right side where Grygera and Mellberg play.
You don't even need to look at the many situations that didn't result with a goal when Grygera and Mellberg (especially Zdenek) played the opponents onside. Just take a look at all the goals we conceded after Christmas. All of them, without exception, either came from the right side, or our players who cover the right side were outjumped in the box.

Actually, i doubt Grygera forgot how to play the offside trap just like that. It has much more to do with Chiellini's absence. With Chiellini our defense is Grygera-Legro on the right side and Chiellini-Molinaro on the left side. It worked really well.
Without Giorgio, Legrottaglie changed his position in central defense from the right to the left (exactly after this Legro started playing awful again) and now he plays on Molinaro's side, while Grygera is getting a new partner in Mellberg.
Legro and his partner play the offside trap well (maybe that's the reason why Molinaro is not the one who's playing the opponents onside anymore? Maybe it's because he plays next to Legro and he follows Legro in defense during the offside trap setting up. Maybe that's also the reason why Grygera wasn't doing these mistakes while playing next to Legro?) but the other side, where Legro doesn't play, is a problem.

Could this be the reason why is Grygera so bad now and why Molinaro suddently improved?

Like Elvin said, its a bit too early for this. But i'd like to add, that even if Molinaro wasn't good enough, or needs to be replaced, i think it should be done internally, ie giving De Ceglie more games there. It does not look likely as Ranieri obviously sees De Ceglie as a winger. But if i were in Claudio's place i'd play him more as leftback. He still isn't good enough of course, but i believe he has a higher ceiling than Molinaro. His discrepancies can be solved by time and experience. I firmly believe that with time, he will develop into a better defender and in turn a fine fullback.
That can come through training in the off-season. In this crucial stage, and with fans with such high expectations, it is difficult to pull this off.

Buffon-Manninger-Chimenti

Molinaro-De Ceglie
Chiellini-Criscito
Legrottaglie-Mellberg-Knezevic-Andrade
Grygera-Zebina

Nedved-Giovinco
Tiago-Marchisio
Sissoko-Poulsen-Zanetti
Camoranesi-Marchionni-Salihamidzic

Del Piero-Iaquinta
Amauri-Trezeguet

2 players for each position on a 4-4-2 formation which was our plan when we returned to serie a + some more options

except from Criscito i cant predict who else will come back(really doubt about Almiron)maybe Lanzafame or Pasquato but they most probably be given as exchange deals in our potential new signings.
now obviously we need someone in the right back position because grygera is so as solid as we want him to be and zebina is just useless whether he will be fit again or not.
andrade and knezevic will leave and a potentially new back up cb could be on the cards(see Stendardo)
NOW TO THE REAL DEAL:i dont mind if we keep Neddy for one more year as long as we use him less than we actually do all this season
so,play Gio more in the left wing and sign one of Ribery,Silva,Diego,Cassano
Diego cannot adapt to our formation as left winger
Ribery is way too expensive
Silva is a good solution although many spaniards failed in serie a
Cassano (and Gio too) can act as cover either to the left wing or as back up tp DP+he is italian talented and cheaper than Ribery or Silva

I don;t think he's so much worse than Moli anyway. Matches are the only way for him to get the necessary development as a defender.

Did I hear Eboue? That Eboue from Arsenal? The guy who has got the intelligence of a hamster? I hope he never comes to Juve, he better stays away and continue screwing up Arsenal. Tiago is useless piece of...of...you know what. So is Grygera and so is Zebina. Right back is a must, left winger/midfielder too. I'd rather have one or two quality signings than 5-6 mediocre chaps like Tiago, Almiron and the rest. In fact Marchisio has been doing much better than Thiago and Almiron, De Ceglie will be far more valuable than Salihamjic and Molinaro, so this is the right path. Two quality signings or even one, and have more faith in youngsters.

so you want us to get rid of useless players like Tiago, Salihamidzic, Molinaro, Grygera and Zebina, then make 1 maxiumum 2 signings and add youngsters?

Well I know that the only way to prevent signing useless players is Secco to be "accidentally" hit by a road-roller on the Torino streets, but I'd rather have De Ceglie and Marchisio-like players than Tiago or Almiron, who cost the club as the GDP of the entire Somalia or Kenya is.

The next transfer window will be very important for Juve for sure. My point was be careful with the budget and no more Tiagos and Boumsongs please.

you have to realise that Juve may not have the strongest individual players, but as a team we are a lot stronger...big names in every position do not make the best team

True, but unfortunately players such as Tiago, Boumsong (glad he left), Zebina, Hasan Sal won't make you champions even if they drink the magical potion of Asterix and Obelix all the time. It's the good management that makes you a champion. Do you remember that phenomenal team with Conte, Torricelli, Ferrara, Padovano that conquered Europe and the world? Yes, they weren't the best individuals but they were hard workers and great professionals. Couldn't say the same thing for that bald head pirate Almiron or that girl Tiago :p

this is pointless right now as there is still 1/3 of the season left to play

its like trying to plan on what to wear next winter when you don't know what the weather is exactly going to be like

see, you just reinforced my point...Almiron, well the guy never got a fair shake at Juve, he might well have been the solution to our cretivity issues...and Tiago, I must admit I wanted him out at all costs last season, but the guy has really turned it around and is working really hard for the team...his display against Sampdoria recently was just magnificent

Well, Almiron probably failed to get "a fair shake", simply because he has more hair on his head than brain, and one good Tiago game won't make me feel better after 6523465465423 screwed games

My point was that Juve need a good management, and they don't have such at the moment.
