I was gonna suggest lowering the points for field goals even further:
0-19 - 2 pts
20-29 - 2 pts
30-39 - 3 pts
40-49 - 4 pts
50+ - 5 pts
Also, PATs (extra point after a TD) this year will be the equivalent of a 32-33 yard field goal, so we could maybe make it 2 pts as opposed to just 1.
I'd suggest also lowering the points for a TD score by RBs, WRs and TEs to 4 pts (last year we had it at 6 pts). That way we wouldn't be over-emphasizing the importance of a single scoring play over continues production by that player, or other players, in getting his team to the endzone, thus setting up the scoring play. Too many points were scored last year by players who did almost nothing in taking their team to the endzone (or redzone, if you wish) but had a 2-3 yard TD run or catch for that final scoring play.
QBs scores for a TD (passing or running) could still remain 6 pts, like last year, but I'd suggest in that case we increase the penalty pts for interceptions to -2 pts (same as for fumble) as opposed to just -1.
