Iupati was also inconsistent as fuck in the last two seasons. He is really good but I don't blame us for not paying him. Pro bowls for the most part are a popularity contest. He was really bad this year.
He was definitely playing hurt a large chunk of the year, and saying he was "really bad" is stretching it. Hard to be consistently Pro Bowl caliber through injury, but he's set a very high standard, and that's what people expect. Maybe for older players Pro Bowls are more of a popularity contest, but they're also about respect, and he's got it for a reason. You go to 3 in your first 5 years, there's a reason.

You want inconsistent? Check Torrey Smith's hands, production, or short/intermediate routes. :D (I'm kidding, sort of)

Keeping Gore would have meant having the same type of skill sets that last year's stable had. That isn't their plan this year. They want RB'S who have different styles that can be used to their advantage. Different offensive philosophy this season. They need more athletes on the field, and smith and Bush, and a returning Kendall Hunter, will help with that.

The whole offensive line was poor, but Iupati hasn't been "Iupati" since the Super Bowl. They will be a younger and athletic line with Marcus Martin having a full year under his belt at Center, or if Kilgore comes back healthy, he and Thomas can fight it out for the LG spot.

The only player I am upset about losing, from a football perspective, is Willis.
I get that they're trying to put some different pieces out there. We really don't know what Kendall will bring, given the achilles and now the ACL; I'm not sure we're going to see that burst. Bush is a complimentary piece, we'll see what he brings.

We'll see how the o-line performs this year. I'm not particularly optimistic about a lot of this.

hes the best bears qb i have seen, can be erratic at times, but what doomed us was the worst bears d in the history of the franchise and cfl play calling
we need a qb that can lead a team..the off coordinator is a guy that had peyton manning as a qb, a guy who has made the calls.

I've watched a lot of Torrey, my worry is how he will be without Flacco who has good touch but we needed a receiver like him. It's not as much how many yards he gets or how many TD's he gets but how much easier he makes it for everyone else to do their thing.

It's still fucked in my opinion that we were forced to drop him based on an allegation. Keep him, let the courts determine what happened and then take action. Such bullshit. Life ruining.

Flacco isn't all he's cracked up by some to be; I'm not worried about the QB in this equation -- although Kaep does still have a lot of work to do on his touch. Look at Boldin after the jump to SF, though; it elevated his game (and numbers). Plus Smith has worked out with Kaep a bunch, so they already have some chemistry.

We would have had to address the position in the draft, in a sense it's safe because they know what kind of guy Torrey Smith is, it's just a lot of money for this player. When he came into the league, I was all about Torrey Smith; flat out loved him, he's an exciting player. Strong character.

I would have paid Iupati. :D Another guy who makes everyone's job around him easier.

Anyway, it could have been worse, and I hope I'm totally wrong, and Torrey shoots the moon. It could happen, if a few things come together.

That shit about Ray McDonald is totally fucked up. Great that he's suing her ass, she deserves jail!

Shit man, football's gotta get ahold of this concussion thing.

The one thing Flacco does have is a crazy big arm. Which should play into the skillset of Torrey Smith.

But was ultimately inconsistent.

He has had 2 concussions.. In high school. One playing soccer the other playing football. Dude bitched out. What a fucking off season. We are lucky we have Brooks and Wilhoite. Looks like we need to draft an ILB

Crazy. Everybody's gotta make the best decision for themselves, I obviously wish him all the best.

Huge holes to fill on D.

Yeah, Kaep and Flacco definitely have two of the biggest arms in the league. Looking forward to stretching things out.

We are so fucking lucky we had the deepest lb core. Ahmad Brooks will probably play there as well, wilhoite is a good player also. Weak on borlands behalf to do this now. If he had concussion history I'd understand but he is one year into his career. First pick probably won't change, will be bpa but the second has to be an ILB.

Last I heard, it sounded as though Brooks was on the way out. Haven't really heard anything about that in awhile, though, so maybe that situation has been resolved.

Massive losses. Trauma. Looking forward to the reaction from up top.

Also, silver lining is that Borland did this before the draft. At least Baalke has time to react.

The problem with Smith has been that when he's on the outside just running, he plays like Tarzan. But when he runs inside, posts, or has DBs physically challenge him, then he plays like Jane. Hopefully, now that he's out of the AFC, he does better.

Oh, we just got Wilfork and Shorts. Now to draft a WR 1st round and an ILB second and we're set.

Ahmad is staying. Baalke said it. Which makes me think he knew about borland.
Well that's good news. He a really solid player, a little under the radar (although he has been a pro-bowler).

I feel the same about Torrey; that's why I wanted a bit more of a polished route runner for that type of money (or even a little more).

Good signings by the HOU, those guys can play.

Now it just depends on Hoyer and Mallet.
