redskins lost several starters, iirc, in their secondary late-ish in the regular season. that secondary wasn't great to begin with but the losses in starting personnel made any play-off run highly unlikely.
If the 'Skins were gonna keep up with the Packers, it was always gonna be with offense, not D, and the O just fell short on the big scene.

@B3N Look at the 2nd chart above and you will appreciate a lot more what the 'Skins did this year. :)
Im not a long time follower but I got to watch redskins since the frustrating Campbell, Portis days and trust me I appreciate the progress they've had, eventhough I dont follow that closely it's obvious now they have a semi decent foundation to build on and a completely different team right now.
I'm only a bit dissappointed because Greenbay's been having an awful year especially in offence, Rogers had practically no protection to throw all year but all of a sudden in a game like this, regardless of the injuries, you let him run all over you in 5 back to back drives. Part of the blame for underwhelming offense in 2nd half falls on defence.
In the end it didnt matter. Like you said they wouldnt have got anywhere even if they won today. I like Jay Gruden , lets how they shape up next year.

In that case I'd say your expectations were a bit unrealistic and they set you up for disappointment. As average as the Pack have looked this year, they have been healthy and have a talented roster all over the field, both on O and D. When you have a Qb like Rodgers, in these circumstances, often it's just a matter of time to get things clicking/going. That's why one can never discount a team like that from making a deep play-off run.
Also, the Pack suffer physicality. Meaning, they tend to get overwhelmed by teams that are physical with them both on O and D and Skins just aren't that type of team. Not yet at least and certainly not in this state of injuries.
Things are looking on the way up for this team, though. Solid base to build on, as long as they resolve the question at Qb with Cousins being an UFA and all.

Yeah. PED use has always caused players to be susceptible to ligament and tendon injuries. I can see why the Pats are up near the top in that regard. Explains why the replacements are always so good too, until they go to another team where they can't use PEDs. :D
That's rich, very rich, considering we just witnessed half of Charlie Sly's client list on display, running around all dressed up in gold and green :p

Which reminds me - Mike Neal and Clay Matthews looked particularly good today :klin: ... must be Charlie's leafy-greens-rich diet at work :D

The Pack is just trying to level the playing field with PED teams like The Seadderall Seahawks and New England PEDriots... :p

PS. Clay was only reported as Percocets. Which are legal when prescribed, illegal when obtained in the Charlie Sly fashion. :D

Well, you can always argue that Charlie Sly recanted his words once he realized the cluster-fuck he'd just created, thus making all this a non-story. At least that's the theory ESPN talking heads are pushing - the HGH was sent to Peyton's wife, not Peyton himself, so he is definitely clean. ;)

Not much else is available, boobs. Maybe Pats OC McDaniels but he's a wild-card option too - some people are meant to be OCs and not HCs annd I think he may be just the type.
This being said, Giants is seen as a very solid franchise, which makes it an attractive job. I think you guys could get a top college coach (Shaw maybe even Meyer) if you want to. The question is, do you want to?
I personally would never hire a coach out of college unless he has previously been an NFL HC like Saban, Groh, Carroll, Marrone

I have faith in the Mara family to hire someone good.

Well, then I hope you believe in magic, Dru ... you know, that "rabbit out of a hat" thing :D

Not everyone is a Chip Kelly, you know. There are actually smart coaches/people managers in CFB. ;)

He does, I will give you that.

The one thing that the Niners have going in their favor is that they are a fairly young team, and they have either the 2nd or 3rd most salary cap space going into next season
:agree:

Looks like Hue wont come, he wants full control, not going to happen with Baalke and Jed

Coughlin interviews today.

I'm struggling to figure out what it is exactly that he sees in the 49ers job.

With a ton of draft picks, a young roster, and 50 million in cap space, those expectations would be raised considerably if he were to sign on the dotted line, though.
We would need to make sure he'd have someone to groom for the top spot when leaves. Any chance, at his age, he'd join in some sort of advisory role?
