BLOOM. You've nailed why I can't follow the NFL anymore. Too many people looking the other way to tolerate great talent with impetuous, destructive behaviors. 49ers have been ground zero for that the past few years and have sold their soul to it.

But Harbaugh also has to shoulder some of the blame for signing and coddling such bad behavior himself. It wasn't a coincidence that the team spent so much on lawyers during his watch.
:agree:

That's why I said he had to go. That team had gone so far out of control by the last couple seasons, and that's definitely on the coach to some extent.

We need to get a good young coach, it will be hard though since we have a dearth of talent. The positives are that we have a nice, high first rounder and that Anthony Davis is coming back. We need to make sure we at least keep Ian Williams and possibly Boone also.

I had them pegged as an 8-8/7-9 team before the season. SO far, so good. They are deffinitely headed in the right direction but it's one thing to be good in a game or two, something very different to do with consistently over an entire season. Schedule isn't favorable, so it will test the team's resolve for sure. If you guys do end up 7-9 or 8-8, I'd say you will be out of the play-offs but will know you have a great foundation to build on next year. Getting to the play-offs requires team character, chemistry and locker-room mentality that takes time to build.
My best guess at this point is, it will take another year for the Raiders to seriously challenge for a play-off spot. If I have any reservations regarding the Raiders' ceiling, it's because of Del Rio - just not convinced he is the right man for the job.

Hope you're proud of yourself :sigh:

Let us take a look at the teams that are confirmed to be without a coach as of right now.

And more importantly, let us take a look at the starting QB's for those respective teams.

Giants- Eli Manning
Titans- Marcus Mariotta
Eagles- Sam Bradford/Mark Sanchez
Browns- Josh McCown/Austin Davis/ Fucking Douchebag
Dolphins- Ryan Tannehill
49ers- :howler:/

If you are a coach, why would you choose the 49ers over ANY of the other positions available?

Two of the clubs (Titans/ Dolphins) have young Quarterbacks, and the Dolphins have a young defense. The Titans also have that #1 pick this year

One of the clubs (Giants) has a veteran Quarterback, and talent at some of the skill positions. They are also in the weakest division in football. For fuck's sake, Kirk fucking Cousins won the NFC East this year

The two other clubs have shitty quarterbacks (Browns/Eagles) but the Browns have the #2 pick in the draft, so they can grab the best QB available if they choose, and the Eagles do have talent on both sides of the ball and they are in that ultra competitive NFC East.

Oh, and if the Colts and Lions do end up firing their coaches, you can add Andrew Luck and Matt Stafford to that list of clubs with far superior quarterbacks to the 49ers.

We will draft Goff. The organisation won't be able to sell gabbert or kap anymore.

I'd prefer Goff but that is mainly off first impressions. I am sceptical about drafting a qb when we have so many holes, especially in the O line, but if we integrate him slowly it might work. If Anthony Davis can get back to his best we have solved one piece in the puzzle but we need more. I wouldn't be surprised if Mangini took over as HC.

Wait. Apparently Baalke said there were no in house candidates. I wouldn't mind Mangini staying as DC. I think our D hasn't been too bad, more a case of our offense not staying on the park for long enough. Chip Kelly has expressed interest in becoming our HC which is worrying to say the least

Holmgren?

I can't believe we didn't promote Vic. Dumbest fucking move.
No.

And Fangio is not head coach material. This club needed an offensive minded head coach. This franchise is most successful when they have offensive minded head coached

Both are project QBs that should be taken in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. 49ers are better off sitting with Gabbert through the rebuild and adding to other areas of the team through the draft. Like the o line, linebacking corps and wide receivers.

:agree:

Terrible year for QBs in the draft with Lynch, Goff, Cook... and little else. Someone's going to reach in the first round on both of these teams though. That fluke chance of hitting on franchise QB pretty much guarantees a couple teams reach for at least 2 of them in the first round.
