One of them is a 2012 Olympics discus thrower, super athlete, but hasn't play a game in his life. I suppose if you have great athletic capabilities it is a good starting point, but then the harder work begins.

I can't think of another sport where a player could be drafted into the top professional division having not played the sport before, which is why I guess it has drawn interest here.

He's unlikely to be drafted.

The more I read about this pick, and the more I look at some of his game film, and especially his combine, the more I like this kid. Freakish Athlete. Now, on to the 2nd round of the draft. Let's see if anyone tries to trade up to get Barkley, Smith, or Te'o. Niners are sitting in a pretty good spot with that 34th pick.

Don't get me wrong, man. I'm not knocking the pick at all. I would have taken him instead of Fisher. It was just the first thing I heard were the Boselli comparisons, and I had to laugh, because its amazing how people have short memories
I love how Harbaugh recruited him to Stanford, missed, and now he's got his guy again. Beyond all the apparent physical gifts, he also excels academically, he's a smart guy who's going to be solid in the classroom. One thing I will say for the 9 under Baalke, they certainly identify clear needs, clear targets before the draft, and then go get them. Every year it seems like they get, for better or worse, basically the exact guys they're targeting in the 1st/2nd rounds (Davis/Iupati/A.Smith/Kaepernick/Jenkins/James/Reid)... the pundits almost always knock them for it a bit, but it's gone pretty well so far.

Love that there are still a couple 2nd rounders and a third today... I wonder if that high second and a few desirable targets will be flipped for a higher pick next year, or if we knock off a DL/TE right away.

I think I may have an inkling as to who they are looking for on the defensive line, and if they do trade that 1st 2nd round pick to move back, I can feel comfortable in my assumption. I think that they might be looking at John Jenkins from Georgia. Just a hunch. If they do keep that pick, I would really like to see them get Tank Carradine from FSU. But in all honesty, I think someone is going to come to them with an offer they can't refuse so that another team can get one of the three high profile players still remaining.

Yeah, they're really going to have to be in love with a specific guy at 34, because somebody should be coming for those QB's, Manti is still there, even a guy like Eddie Lacy (I had heard there probably wouldn't be any RB's selected in round 1, but I thought somebody would step up for the top rated guy).

I'm hoping opportunity comes knocking, and we can flip that pick for a future #1. Bucky's giving us Margus Hunt, seems like an interesting prospect, although he's a bit green, and I have no idea where San Francisco will find a helmet big enough to fit that guy's head. What a monster.

If we keep the pick, definitely should be going line, and not Ertz.

Margus Hunt reminds me in a way of the Pierce Holt situation back in the late 80's. but the difference here is that unlike Holt, Hunt won't have the luxury of sitting back and learning. Hunt would have to be in the rotation right away. There just aren't a lot of 3-4 Defensive Ends out there this year.

I knew it. I just knew it. San Francisco has traded the 34th pick to Tennessee

- - - Updated - - -

34th pick to Tennessee for the 40th this year, a 7th round pick this year, and a 3rd round pick next year. Nice, Nice trade.

Great pick for Tennessee. Justin Hunter. A WR I really liked.

Zach Ertz got drafted by the Eagles. Not bothered by it, as Gavin Escobar is the guy I would like

I'm starting to get that sinking feeling for Geno Smith again, as the Jets are on the clock
