Thread re-opened due to popular demand. I guess this was the least worst (excuse the terrible English) of the country/language threads, and fair enough there was a decent discussion going on here.

There you have it folks, proof that the moderators are here to serve and protect, rather than just ruling the place with an iron fist (except for Tom that is :D)

All I know is that our respect and credibility in the world at large has only gone in the toilet since the Bush presidency. And with the way we currently think that the rest of the world doesn't really matter, the seeds of eventual demise for every great, dominant world power in history has been this kind of hubris. And we're not just talking military either -- it's economic as well.

If anything, we've radicalized more and more of the world against us. The Bush administration has been a better recruitment tool for Al Queda than anything Bin Laden could do or say right now. And the majority of world opinion suggests that the U.S.'s tactics have lead to a more dangerous, and not a more secure, world right now.

And who can be held accountable -- and will take responsibility -- for sending hundreds of Americans and thousands of Iraqis to their deaths over a very public premise that was either a boldfaced lie or complete incompetence? I can't imagine any other arena where thousands of people die and billions of dollars are lost over a wrong decision (or worse, a deception) and yet no one loses their job over it... or is even asked to be held accountable for mistakes.

Of course, I have some liberal biases. But I have some very conservative tendencies as well (I'm not sure who hates hippies more -- me, or Eric Cartman). This is the first election in my memory where I've felt there were such moral responsibilities for voters. There is a lot of "ends justify the means" thinking going on now.

Oh -- and Quiznos? I almost punched out the guy in the inflatable Quiznos suit when he blocked my exit from the subway on the way to work yesterday. Quiznos and Subway can duke it out as much as they want. They'll get my business only if my remaining choice for something to eat is some tired formula of cold semi-edibles slapped on slices of bread.

Thank Bill Clinton for not taking out Bin Laden when he had the chance......

These are RADICAL MUSLIMS we are dealing with, who's ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO WIPE OUT THE JEWS AND INFIDELS (NON-MUSLIMS) OF THE WORLD

I am speaking from vast experience, trust me, the department I work with goes hand and hand with Homeland Security

Its only a matter of time before Bin Laden and his terrorist SCUMBAGS detonate a nuclear warhead in the US..................whether Bush is in office, or anyone else !!!!!

As a born again recovering alcoholic, it's been quite clear before even Sept 11 that he's ensuring his religious agendas infuse our public policy, our scientific policy, and our political policy. And then when people call him on it, he invokes some divine-right-like mumbo jumbo as if he's the right hand of God and therefore beyond questioning.

    Bush really does feel he's on a religious war and this is about the Christians against the Muslims -- make no doubt about it. It's just too un-PC for him to come out and publicly say that. But his actions say everything.

    This is why I call his administration the American Taliban. The parallels are uncanny.

    Well I think thats a bit harsh. I don't think his intentions are to defeat the Arab world, just the Arab world that "harbors terrorists".

    Thats what I'm afraid of. But I do think Bush has the upperhand in terms of protecting the Nation against attacks like these, versus Kerry. If Kerry takes office, I'm not sure how secure this place will be. I don't think that Homeland Security will be overlooked with Kerry, just underlooked, if you know what I mean. I also like how Bush is committed to finding terrorists all over the world. At least supposedly. :rolleyes:

    Ive been to Kendall. Its kinda near the airport if I remember correctly. There are lots of Walmarts/Best Buys, etc. around
    I have a friend whose brother lived in Kendall for a long time, so I can find out what the night life is around there
    The supposedly best night life in Miami is in South Beach, but Ive heard its a pain in the butt to get into clubs and stuff there. Last time I went to Miami I didnt have a fake ID so I couldnt do anything.

    I've unfortunately never been to Florida. But I do know some people down there and they say life is great. And a fair shair of great golf courses are scattered about there as well. :)

    Well, if Osama wanted to destroy the US since 1990, then the US sure as hell helped him. He was American recruited, trained and armed when they needed him to fight the Soviets.

    Also, not all terrrorists are from the Arab world. Just look at ETA, IRA, the Oklahoma bombings, the Tokyo attacks, etc.

    Please do find out about Kendall for me. It is indeed near the airport. Hopefully its not too far from Miami also.

    Level of agreeance with this quote: 100%. In Norway, one of the most Americanized countries in the world, The US have grown (among many people) very unpopular due to the current administration. Ahead of the current election I really hope Americans ask themselves who they want leading the country in these difficult times we're living in. With this "war" on terror, the EU/Nato issues that are going to be important in the future and the new global economy developing you need a great leader.

    I also hope Americans think about Iraq. I'm not saying it was right or wrong here, I just hope they think about it, and judge for themselves.

    Well thats information that we all know too well. Who would have thought that he would become the leader of a cowardly terrorist organization? Nobody was expecting that when we helped him.

    Yeah, and some are from our own back yards (DC Snipers). :groan:
