The3y need to make another bowl a BCS bowl, to be honest.

If they were smart, they would push for the Cotton Bowl to be a BCS matchup, using Cowboys Stadium as the centerpiece.

Could you imagine a BCS tiotle match in that stadium? They would be fools not to add another.

The ultimate solution is a playoff. A 4 team playoff once all the bowls are done with. 2 more weeks of football. It would sove everything, for the most part. It would still give the bowl games some meaning.

Yeah. That might work. But this is just ridiculous. TCU and Boise slugged it out last year in the Poinsettia Bowl and their reward for an undefeated season is to play each other again? That's just silly.

Almost as silly has a 6-6 Florida State team getting to play in a New Year's day bowl game with a >$1million pay out.

For better or for worse, think of that scenario as a send off for Coach Bowden. You can only imagine what the fan turnout for something like that would be.

It's going to be nuts for the area. As Bowden started out at WVU and finished with FSU. WVU travels well and FSU is in state. But you can't tell me that there are going to be anymore FSU fans there than there would be Clemson or Miami. FSU might be one of the worst teams WVU plays this year. Their defense is baaaad.

If the 6 wins are against Division 1 opponents, then technically, they are bowl eligible
Obviously it is the standard for bowl eligibility. But that standard was created for an eleven game season in order to ensure that a team who has recieved a bowl invitation won the majority of it's games. With the extension of the season, the standard wasn't expanded as well and now a team that wins half its game and finished in the bottom half of it's conference can go bowling. The eligibillty should be raised to 7 games. I mean who really wants to see the SEC number 8 take on the Big 12 number 9?

I think that, in this case, there would be.

You can expect the exact same scenario to take place once Paterno retires, even if his team would end up 6-6

With the way that the landscape has changed in college football, with no really dominating teams out there anymore, you could end up seeing a lot less bowl games in the future if the standards were raised to 7 victories. As unappealing as an SEC #8 vs a Big 12 #9 sounds, could you imagine a WAC #6 vs. a MWC #7?

I understand the idea behind it, but I'm a quality control kind of guy. I hate seeing good bowls ruined by bad teams.
In this case, I think its a solitary incident. I'm not saying its right, but it does make sense.

I mean, USC is in the Emerald Bowl for crying out loud. You would be hard pressed to convince me that an FSU-WVU matchup is better than USC-WVU

In the end, until the Mountain West and Western Athletic Conference get recognized as BCS conferences, this is what you are going to get.

This is the first time that 2 non-BCS conferences are playing in BCS bowls
How are they going to get recognized if they don't even get a chance?

Seriously, just scrap this stupid system. It's flawed and needs to be taken out back and shot in the face.

The only way its going to happen is if they add another BCS Bowl. Such as the Cotton Bowl, for instance.

Apparently, the Cotton Bowl IS at Cowboys Stadium after all. All the more reason to have it as a BCS Bowl now.

Unless Brian Kelly gets the job. That guy can coach and runs a great offense. Look at what he did with Kevin Pittsnogle's little brother.

he's the coach at cincy right? i think he's a great program builder but ND is unlike any other program in the FBS. those ungrateful fucks have expectations beyond their means and will ruin brian kelly's career if he takes the HC job there.

i hope ND ends up with a ron zook type of coach. no wait better yet a mike leach type of headcase. he would drive those catholics insane up there

Yea, FSU is getting a huge gift for that bowl game. The Gator Bowl considers itself one of the premier non-BCS bowl games and they dont usually like taking 4 loss teams.

but this matchup was too good to pass up. WVU always travels well here and the FSU fans will show up to see Bowdens last game.

Hell, I'd be there no matter who WVU was playing cause I live in Jacksonville and WVU is my second fave team. Add the fact of the history involved and its a winner.

I hope WVU rolls them hard.
