Roma "out of Amauri race"

Amauri’s agent has ruled Roma out of the running, but Juventus, Milan and Real Madrid remain. “The price-tag is £19m.”

The Brazilian is one of the hottest properties on the transfer market and Palermo have already conceded he will move on in the summer.

Roma had been one of the main candidates to sign him, but his agent insisted today that was no longer the case.

“There is a lot of interest around him,” commented Mariano Grimaldi. “The price-tag is £19m and Roma are out of the race.”

The hefty costs involved in signing Amauri have scared off the Giallorossi from pursuing this option, preferring to push for Udinese’s Antonio Di Natale.

However, other big clubs are still chasing the hitman, including Milan and Juve in Italy plus Spaniards Real Madrid.

“The lad is very happy in Palermo and will not move from Sicily until June,” added the agent.

Both Italian sides will need to see whether they qualify for the Champions League before stumping up the cash for Amauri, who missed most of last season with a serious knee injury.

His price-tag could rise further if he is called up for the Italian national side, as he has applied for an Italian passport.

I would rather buy Huntelaar, keep trezeguet for another season, break Huntelaar into Serie A first without giving him the strikers role and pressure straight up.

I dont want gilardino!
