Amauri Trying To Put Summer Move Aside

Palermo's Brazilian striker Amauri wants to focus his attention on the next Serie A game, rather than thinking about what will happen during the summer.

Amauri will be one of summer's most sought-after players in the transfer market, as the player is expected to leave the Rosanero for a big club.

However, the Brazilian attacker has no intention of talking about the future yet, and wants to concentrate on helping Palermo win games in the Italian top flight, starting with this weekend's clash against Livorno.

"Right now I'm just interested in playing a good second half to the season with Palermo - for the rest I will think," explained the former Chievo Verona player.

"I had already saida long time ago that I would not leave in January, but we shall see what happens in June," he continued.

"Right now my only thought is that of finishing as high up as possible and I believe that there is the time and the possibility to do so," concluded Amauri.

The 27-year-old is being tipped to sign for either Milan or Juventus, although Chelsea and Barcelona are also said to be interested.

Juve Must Finish In Top Four To Sign Amauri – Agent

Juventus must qualify for next season’s Champions League if they are to have any hope of signing Amauri in the summer, according to the player's agent.

The Palermo hitman is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in Serie A, and is set for a big money move to a top club at the end of the season.

The Italian media believe that Juventus and AC Milan are currently the favourites to sign the Brazilian, although there is also interest from Chelsea and Barcelona.

Amauri’s agent Mariano Grimaldi was asked of the chances of Juventus beating off the competition to sign his client.

"Amauri wants to play in Europe, that's all that counts,” Grimaldi told Tuttomercatoweb.

“We also want to deal with Juve, of course, but before anything the Bianconeri must finish in the top four of the championship."

Juventus are currently looking good for a Champions League spot as they sit in third position in Serie A.

However a poor start to 2008, which has seen them win just one of their four matches of the year, has caused them to look nervously over their shoulder at the likes of Fiorentina, Milan and Udinese behind them.

Amauri would be a great signing for the new stagione, but Secco won't be able to compete with Barca and Milan for the signature. We'll end up having to settle for our second or third target.

True that. There will be a bidding war this summer for Amauri and our only hope is that Palermo will accept a part exchange + cash because he will be damn expensive and we know what our board thinks of bidding wars.

i dont think amauri should be brought by us he is in his late 20's and our forward line should hardly be a priority attaking midfielders should be our focus if we sign him for 20m i personally will be very annoyed.

Ikoninhosa i think you are right about a part exchange being the only way to get him although i am 100% sure secco and raneri are stupid enough to exhange giovincio marchisio or de celigie + 20m for him

I say put another 20 and buy Aguero he is twice the player Amauri is
No way our management will pay that much on any player (around 40 million). We should buy a young talented forward that won't cost us much. And try to invest the majority of our summer transfer budget on a playmaker even if that means paying around 30 mil

I agree we should buy a playmaker (Diego) but I also say we should sell some not needed faces and buy Aguero and a quality defender
I know the whole project might get us use lots of $ but hey it would be worth it

He is good, but to the quality he offers to what he costs, he isnt worth it and we dont need him (is not setting the league on fire, neither is his scoring record any good).

I rather we sign G.Rossi to properly replace Ale. Or the longshot awesome signing that would be Aguero. But this is all if we only have funds left for the important AM signing and defenders signings

Honestly i don't rate Amauri that high, the guy is good but for 18-20 million euros i'd buy someone who's more talented and much younger. Milan got pato for 22 million and he's really good and still very young now that's a great investment.

i guess some were right about barzagli, i.e. he always seems to play well when he has WC defenders around him and maybe it's the palermo defence that makes him look crappy. he was pretty good today. what do you think?
