i guess some were right about barzagli, i.e. he always seems to play well when he has WC defenders around him and maybe it's the palermo defence that makes him look crappy. he was pretty good today. what do you think?
Yeah Barzagli has always come through for the Azzurri. Its the Palermo defense. They are from world class minus Zaccardo. I for one think he would be a good addition to Juve plus he is from my hometown in Italia :D

Amauri Leaving Palermo In Summer - Foschi

Palermo general director Foschi has conceded that striker Amauri will leave the club in June, due to his wanted status in Italy and abroad...

The Rosanero are not going through the best of moments despite last weekend's 1-0 win against Livorno, with the team currently drifting in a mid-table position.

A Uefa Cup place is still possible, but Foschi does not want to set any targets for the time being.

"I don't want to talk about Europe with regards to Palermo," declared the general director to 'Radio Kiss Kiss'. "The objective remains that of reaching the best possible placement by the end of the season.

"I don't want to talk about definite objectives because if we don't manage to obtain them, we would feel disappointed," he added. "Let's only think about doing well until the end of the season."

When asked about Amauri and his future, Foschi admitted that Palermo will not be able to hold on to him.

"He is wanted by big clubs and he will leave. He has different aspirations and it's fair that he goes to play elsewhere," concluded Foschi.

Juventus and Milan are the main contenders for the signature of the Brazilian striker, but a lot will depend on whether they will play in the Champions League next season.

Who knows, he could do well beside either Chiellini or Mellberg, but I'm not too sure.

Juve & Chelsea Want Departing Amauri – Agent

The agent of Palermo star Amauri has confirmed that his client will leave the club at the end of the season, and says that Juventus and Chelsea are among the clubs who want to sign him.

The Brazilian is undoubtedly one of the peninsula’s best strikers, and this season he has scored eight goals in 20 games in Serie A.
It has been expected for quite sometime now that this would be Amauri’s last season in Sicily, and his agent Mariano Grimaldi has admitted that he will be signing for a Champions League club in the summer.

"I can confirm that Amauri will leave Palermo at the end of season,” said Grimaldi.

In Italy and abroad there is competition for his services. Chelsea could be a possibility.

“I can confirm that Juventus are after him, but I cannot say that the Bianconeri are ahead in the race. For sure though, Amauri will play in the Champions League next season
.”

The 27-year-old is due to obtain an Italian passport in the coming weeks or months, and there has been speculation that he could earn a call-up to Italy’s Euro 2008 squad if this occurs before June.

Amauri has never played for his native Brazil, so would be eligible to play for Roberto Donadoni’s World Champions.

So lets just hope than Chelsea will get him and we focus on Diego VDV and a CB (barzagli?)
If we fail to buy him, i guess we will turn to Huntelaar again!

Zampa: Four in for Amauri

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has revealed that there is healthy competition to sign star striker Amauri.

The Brazilian hitman is one of the hottest properties in Italy at the moment and he will be leaving Sicily in the summer for a bigger club.

Juventus, Milan and Barcelona are believed to be interested in the former Chievo man, but they are expected to need around £12m to secure Zamparini’s most prized asset.

It is Amauri’s right to leave at the end of the season,” the Rosanero chief explained on Radio Kiss Kiss.

“It wouldn’t be right to try and keep him here when he knows he has big clubs interested in him. At the moment there are four sides that have approached us.”

i don't know about this one... i'd prefer keeping the forwards like they are... i mean we are pretty well packed upfront... amauri could get terribly expensive and we don't know really what we're getting out of him. I'd say; hands off, look for huntelaar instead if you really want to get a new forward...

our board´s problem is to make priorities. Amauri is OK, but shouldn´t be our priority. Defence and midfield (esp. creativity) are our main problems.
