Juve eye Palermo pair
Thursday 27 December, 2007

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has confirmed Juventus’ interest in star players Amauri and Andrea Barzagli.

The duo have been impressive again this season, leading to rumours that they are set to be snatched up by one of Serie A’s top clubs.

But Zamparini has now confirmed that Juve are interested in signing both players, although he isn’t keen to sell during the up-coming January transfer window.

In the last few months Juventus have got closer to Amauri and Barzagli,” announced the controversial President, before hinting that a deal could be done in the future.

“The Bianconeri are the only club who could offer me an adequate player exchange, even though I’m not selling anyone for the time being.”

Milan have also been heavily linked with a move for the pair, but Zampa insists that he won’t do business with the Rossoneri as he still has hard feelings from their previous negotiations over Luca Toni.

Milan don’t have to call me as their Vice-President Adriano Galliani is the last person I would sell Amauri to. :D

“Before selling Toni to Fiorentina I offered him to Galliani. I even begged him to sign him, but he responded that Toni was not suitable to wear to Rossoneri shirt.”

It is thought that both Amauri and Barzagli could be on their way out of Palermo at the end of the season, but Zamparini has previously stated that any deal will not come cheap.

don't take zamparini seriously
I never do, but i think that he's not lying about our interest in these two players. I don't think any president of a club, even a clown like Zamparini, would publicly say that another club is trying to buy some of his players if there isn't at least 1% truth in it.
Maybe he's exeggarating about Juve being close to Barzagli and Amauri and all we did was ask about their availability, but he's not completely inventing the story.

Still, Juve's got plenty of strikers. DP, Trez, Palladino, Iaquinta.... I just don't see much of a need for another striker. If one of these players is part of the exchange, then I'd change my opinion.
If Trezegol is injured (hope it doesn't) who will step up to score goals? Palladino is too young and only scored once so far, so that is out of the question. Iaquinta and Del Piero are really good strikers but don't expect them to be scoring goals all the time. + if we play in the CL next year we will need one more striker.

Barzagli a definite YES...but if we want to get Amauri that means that Huntelaar won't happen...
i think Barzagli time has came and passed tbh, it was his major time to come last year when everything was right for him to move so why would he move this year.. I was suprised to hear from Zampa that we were interested in Amauri

Juventus plan £40M spending spree
tribalfootball.com - December 28, 2007

Juventus are putting together a summer transfer warchest worth over £40 million.

With Champions League football a genuine prospect, Juve's are drawing up a shopping list of players capable of ruling Europe.

Cristian Zapata (Udinese) and Andrea Barzagli (Palermo) have been earmarked for the defence, says Tuttosport, while Dutch pair Rafael van der Vaart (Hamburg) and Klaas Jan Huntelaar (Ajax) are also in Juve's sights, along with Barzagli's teammate Amauri.

Juve To Go On €65m Summer Spending Spree

Juventus will spend €60-65m on a host of top-class players in the summer, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

A large portion of this money will go on the Palermo duo of Andrea Barzagli and Amauri.

Both players are also of interest to AC Milan and Inter, however Rosanero President Maurizio Zamparini yesterday stated that if the players were to be sold it would only be to Juve.

In order to bring Barzagli and Amauri to the club, Juventus would allow Sergio Almiron and Marco Marchionni to go the other way.

Another player on the summer transfer shortlist is Lokomotiv Moscow stopper Branislav Ivanovic.

The Serbian has long been linked with a move to the Bianconeri, however it had seemed as though their interest had cooled in recent weeks. An alternative to Ivanovic is Udinese’s impressive young Colombian defender Cristian Zapata.

As for the midfield positions, Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri wants to sign one of Momo Sissoko, Javier Mascherano and Gilberto Silva, as well as Hamburg playmaker Rafael Van der Vaart.
