Despite the interest, Amauri is keeping his feet on the ground and wants to finish the current campaign before considering his future.

I don’t know where I’ll go,” he admitted. “It’s a question that, perhaps, you should ask my President.

“There is a lot of talk but there is nothing concrete. I am a Palermo player and I would like to concentrate on our final games of the season.”

Juventus are the frontrunners in the race to win the flamboyant scorer’s signature and Amauri indirectly confirmed his desire to move to Turin by lavishing praise on Bianconeri bandiera Alex Del Piero.

I have always considered Del Piero as a formidable footballer and this season he is demonstrating why,” he added.

Notwithstanding his age, he is having a great championship, I respect and appreciate him even more for this.”

Okay, I'm not going to evaluate Amauri as a forward, he's at his prime and he'll suit our playing style. Nonetheless, I don't stand the guy for some unknown reason. I comprehend that it's my problem.

As for Barzagli, he should go anywhere else bar Juventus.

Juve close on Amauri
Tuesday 22 April, 2008

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has announced that Juventus' successful bid for Amauri is the only one he has received.

The Rosanero striker is in high demand after a series of scintillating displays this season, attracting the attention of Europe biggest clubs including Arsenal and Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with Juventus and Zamparini confirmed the Bianconeri are now discussing personal terms with the player.

“There has only been Juventus. No other clubs have contacted me, neither from Spain nor from England. There is the problem of his passport,” explained Zamparini.

Amauri is Brazilian by birth, but having lived in Italy for seven years and marrying an Italian he is expected to become an Italian citizen in a matter of weeks.

Zamparini also revealed that talks with Juve are progressing well and the Bianconeri are close enough to agreeing a deal to begin contract talks with Amauri's agent.

“The fact remains that talks have already begun with Juve. We have authorised them to speak with the player,” continued the Aquile chief.

“I would like to repeat that Juve are a serious club, like Palermo. They are never irresponsible and always go through the correct channels. We are quite close to finding a solution.”

The British and Italian media had reported that Arsenal had tabled a bid of £17m in an attempt to hijack the transfer of the former Chievo star.

“Arsenal want Amauri? Not one proposal has arrived from the Gunners,” ended Zamparini.

I hope for Zapata.
All those people who are saying that we dont need Amauri is BS.
Del Piero is on age, so is Trezeguet.
And an extra quality in the team is never considered bad.
I don't think many are quetioning the need for another forward, more whether Amauri should be that forward.

It all comes down to price for me.

well, if there is some logic behind our BOD, they should never try to throw everything they got at their disposal. So my guess is Marcioni and Nocerino + cash.

Also im sure we are going to buy LB and Midfield player and maybe Cudichini plus players which will come from Empoli.
I think logic behind buying players is that we target 2-3 players for same position so whichever we get, otherwise we might be left without anyone..
That's why we are linked with Zambrotta, de Ceglie, Evra for LB etc..

and why is this bad exactly ?
Its not bad at all, but unless we have greased and tuned him for years and years, its weird that he constantly praises us for no particular reason. Yes we have a reputation of professional conduct etc. But its more to it then that, that he constantly praises us every chance he gets, when this guy is the ultimate loose cannon who can lose it against anyone for anything in any second (has random attacks of lambasting his players, coaches, opposition, other presidents, officials etc).

May be a factor Juve is the favourite club in Palermo after the home team, but still, bit unexpected praise every time is odd.

But yeah I LIKE it, nothing beats constant flattery ;)

and how should that be a good deal? i'd take amauri over adebayor any time. I must say that i don't follow epl too much, but from what i've seen, amauri is WAY better (better technique, used to serie-a, more experienced)
I've gotta go against you here man, i dont think Amauri is bad or anything, and i definetely dont think we are going to get Adebayor. But you say Amauri is better than Adebayor so convincingly, and i cant agree. He has more experience at the league level in italy yes, but Adebayor has been hotting up arguably the best league in the world at the moment, and has more CL experience than Amauri does, plus he is much younger. Technique wise u may be right, but once the goals keep coming it rly doesnt matter. So i truly believe getting Adebayor would be better than getting Amauri.
