NJew Twist As Agent Confirms Arsenal Interest In Amauri

The agent of Palermo striker Amauri has confirmed that Arsenal are attempting to hijack Juventus’ attempts to sign his client.

Amauri’s transfer to Juventus had appeared to be a formality after extensive negotiations between the Bianconeri and Palermo.

However yesterday it was reported in the European press that Arsenal had made a late entry into the race to sign him.

Sources claimed that The Gunners were ready to offer more than €4m-a-season to the Brazilian, and were also prepared to match Palermo’s asking price of €25m.

This has now been confirmed by Amauri’s agent Mariano Grimaldi. "Arsenal is now another team added to the list of teams interested in Amauri," Grimaldi told Terra Brazil.

"We have already received proposals from Liverpool and Real Madrid, in addition to what we already had from Juventus."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been criticised for the lack of experienced players in his squad, and hopes that the 27-year-old may help solve this issue for next season.

Wenger is also in need of a striker, due to Eduardo’s broken leg, and the relative inexperience of the likes of Nicholas Bendtner and Theo Walcott.

About Amauri..."We certainly won't take part on auctions for Amauri. In CL we definitely need 4 strikers of absolute quality.Am I wrong or do we already have the best striking duo of Serie A?"

About Giovinco..."He is doing great things at Empoli,he ist just what we need.He is on the right track."The reporter asked him:"So he'll return?"Secco responded:"Take it as a yes."

About the left flank..."Pavel is fantastic, but he won't rest forever. We wait and see if he'll play on after this season. After that,it's time for Palladino to take his place.

About Mutu..."Letting him go was a mistake,a mistake by me"

Interesting that he has cast a major shadow over the Amauri transfer.. I see a Milito saga coming up very soon.. Excellent that he sees Giovinco the same as all we do..

I've got a huge feeling Neddy will retire at the end of the year regardless of form and contract issues, in fact im certain in my own mind.. He is a deadset legend but i think he wants to move on from football and we shouldnt stand in his way.

both seba and Palla are quite versatile so where they are going to play wont be to much of an issue.. Personally i see Palla as SS and Seba more as midfielder creating oppurtunities from the left wing and dribbling in from there
Palla is versatile?? How many games did u see this year? Palla sucks as WL or WR....

So Seba is out of that position...
The best way to play Seba is behind the strikers, period.
Let's go for Zapata, and let Amauri to Arsenal...:xfinger:
We need good defence if we are going to play in CL next year... So Zapata & Chiellini and Legro and Melberg back ups for CD position...Sell Andrade or trade him...

Guys, you'll be disappointed if you expect our team to be perfect after the mercato.
It could have been if at least 2 of the players we bought last summer proved themselves worthy for the starting line-up, but since the only one who satisfied was Sissoko and we still need 4 players in starting XI to be perfect, you can forget about the perfection.
Secco said that financially we're far from being a match to Inter and Milan. In other words, he's saying that we can't buy 2,3 or 4 world class players and fix everything during the summer. If we don't have the money, it's hardly his fault. Blame whoever was responsible for our relegation.

This proccess will take more than 1 year, maybe even more than 2 (since Del Piero, Camo and Trez will be relatively old after 2 years).
I expect at least 3 summers to pass until our team is perfect in all positions, as we were pre-Calciopoli. Actually, my prediction is that it will take 4 summers and the initial prediction that we'll need 5 years to be at the same level as we were during Capello time will come true.
For this summer we'll fill 2 more holes. Hopefully, these two players will be better than the ones we bought last summer and they'll win their place in starting XI.

yes Palla is versatile and yeah i've watched every game bar 2 this year.. Ur right Palla has sucked at both WL or WR but he has been EQUALLY as worse when played further up front espicially his finishing has been woeful to say the least so what's your point??? Are you trying to say he is exclusively to be played up front, that's a load of shit, although it's his preffered position we all know his finishing is not up to scratch and many other foward facets of his game and untill he does that he will be utilised on the wing and i although i'd rather him play as a FW its too big of an oppurtunity cost for Iaq or somebody else.. Palla is more versatile than most strikers around and definately any of our current strikers..

gent: Three bids for Amauri
Friday 18 April, 2008

The agent of Palermo’s star marksman Amauri has announced that two sides in addition to Juventus have already submitted offers for the Brazilian.

The 28-year-old seemed to be on his way to Turin after a successful meeting between Old Lady officials and their Rosanero counterparts earlier in the week.

However, it has emerged that Juve’s offer is just one of three on the table for the Sicilians to weigh up.

“We have already received offers from Liverpool and Real Madrid,” agent Mariano Grimaldi revealed to Terra.

“Additionally, Arsenal have added their name to the list of clubs interested in Amauri.”

The former Chievo man is hoping to obtain an Italian passport within the next month, which will make him an EU player.

This could persuade Arsenal to table a concrete bid as it would quell fears that the uncapped Amauri may be unable to get a work permit.

As glad as I am about possibly losing out on Amauri, I'm sure Palermo wouldn't do us like that. They have future negotiations with Juve to think about and they seem to be really keen on getting some of our youngsters.
