Amauri Move To Juve Collapses Over Giovinco
According to reports in Italy, the refusal of Claudio Ranieri to release Sebastian Giovinco to Palermo has led to the collapse of Amauri’s transfer to Juventus.
Brazilian striker Amauri had seemed almost certain to move to the Bianconeri, with Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini announcing last week that the transfer was “98 per cent” complete.
However the deal then hit a snag over two main points. First of all Amauri is demanding €3.75m-a-year in wages, but Juve are only prepared to pay him €3m.
More importantly, Palermo are demanding a €10m transfer fee, plus Antonio Nocerino, Davide Lanzafame and Sebastian Giovinco as part of the exchange.
Reports over the weekend seemed to suggest that Juve were on the brink of accepting the Sicilian proposal, which would have seen them cede half of Giovinco’s contract.
However Coach Claudio Ranieri has made it perfectly clear that he will not sanction any sale of the 21-year-old Giovinco, who is widely regarded as one of the best young players in world football.
As a result Amauri’s move to Juventus has all but collapsed, and it seems increasingly likely that he will switch to Milan instead.
The Rossoneri will pay €15m, plus offer Palermo a selection of players in exchange, including the likes of Yoann Gourcuff, Paolo Sammarco, Ignazio Abate and Lino Marzorati.
They will also match Amauri’s wage demands. The only possible sticking point could be a failure by the Diavoli to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
