Oh. I agree with you that Higuain is still the better #9, although I believe that's slowly changing. I just think Morata would serve us better in CL. It's a moot point really. Madrid seemed to have no desire to sell him in the buyback window, they wanted to see if he could be their next CF, decided he wasn't good enough and sold him this summer. We had to buy someone, and Higuain was the best available that summer. We overpaid, but whatever. He was instrumental in a domestic double and getting us to the CL final.

What I'm more worried about is how quick his decline will be if he doesn't get in better shape.
I totally wanted us to keep Morata. He's a really likeable player. But, unfortunately, it was out of our hands. THey might wanted to see if he could be their cf, but I think they also knew that they could cash in on him. Their was no chance in hell they would've sold in directly to us. That's why I don't get why people bitched about the buyback clause. Good business from Real

Higuain's shape was a bit of a shock to me, tbh.

and my last touch on this topic, comparing their careers by numbers (source: transfermarkt).

Higuain
Club: games 511, minutes 35070, goals 265, assists 89, g+a 354, goal every 132,34 min, goal/assist every 99,07 min
Country: games 69, minutes 4775, goals 31, assists 14, g+a 45, goal every 154,03 min, goal/assist every 106,11 min

Morata
Club: games 215, minutes 10007, goals 70, assists 35, g+a 105, goal every 142,96 min, goal/assist every 95,3 min
Country: games 23, minutes 1220, goals 13, assists 3, g+a 16, goal every 93,85 min, goal/assist every 76,25 min

thats all from me folks
You can delete the rest in my view. Not to mention how much better those numbers would look for Higuain if you only counted goals (per minute played) scored for Juve. After all, that's what you as a 1) Juve fan and 2) assumingly a stats fan should care about given how fairer and more accurate of a direct comparison it would be if you adjusted for as many irrelevant factors as posisble.

And why exactly should we delete the rest and highlight the only stat Higuain beats him in? If we only count Juve, it's a goal every 151,1 minutes for Higgy and every 173,2 for Morata, that with Higgy joining us on back of his best season in his career and Morata from Real Madrid Castilla and Spain U21 basically. So again, according to your most favorable stat, still no huge margin for Higgy, and that is the one area of the game he's better at than Morata. Also, I'm not one that loves stats, I rarely post them in fact, but that's the only way to argue some here who don't pay attention to detail. And that you think comparing prime Higuain that has the team built around him and a 22 to kid trying to win a place in the starting XI is fair, well, that says it all. And they say I'm cherry picking here lol

He had a terrible season up until January and then absolutely lit things up both in the league, and the two matches against Bayern. He was fantastic down the stretch playing LW/SS beside Mandzukic after the Dybala injury.
He was also great up until October I think, his terrible stretch that year lasted for 2-3 months, October-January, where he couldnt score a single goal iirc. That was the period he had those "personal issues"

Our board wanted Pipa. We overpayed him like hell creating a horrible ROI, bad deal indeed.

About Alvaro, our board only effort was to increase his wave and tried him to force RM to leave him free so it was a very weak effort in the end. Morata has an awesome ROI forecast without any doubt.

IMO Pipa is a way better poacher. Alvaro was a way better deal

Morata better than Higuain??? :sergio:

What is this?? Higuain's worst season in Serie A in terms of goal scoring (2013/14) is better than both of Morata's seasons with us added together.

In this low scoring half Serie A season of Higuain he STILL beats either full season of Morata with us.

That's not even taking into account that Higuain does everything better than Morata except run in a straight line. At Chelsea he is still missing tons of chances and mostly just scores headers from Azpilicueta's crosses.

Morata still diving in the box. What a shame. The few times where he was really aggressive with the ball and used his physicality, he looked like a monster.
