Yes, let's not sign him because of a bad game against Sevilla. Never mind the whole team was struggling at that point. Never mind he has proven his quality on many other occasions.

Maybe we should have sold Del Piero after Euro 2000

I guess we should have sold Buffon in 2011-12 after that giveaway that almost allowed Milan back into the scudetto race. :shifty:

People just ignoring the fact that Morata was a huge part of why we were in first place in the group going into that game because he dominated both ManCity and Sevilla in previous games.

Not to mention he was the biggest reason we were seconds away from knocking out Bayern.

That reminds me. I guess we should banish Evra too for that last second giveaway.

We won't because we can't. And with Morata we're not going to actually pay another 65m, but only 35m, though the value of the transfer would be 55/65
We've yet to pay even the full €20M to Real and I want nothing more than keeping Morata here but we have to remain reasonable in our dealings that's what got us here in the first place, I'm completely on board spending another €20m-€25m for him though.

Why do they have to be exclusive?
+ @Hydde

dunno, i just can't see us pulling both deals. pjanic's buyout clause should be payed in a single installment, that alone is a big enough obstacle in our current financial situation. add that to the berardi deal, and you have a huge mercato: 38 + 25 + 30-35 for morata, we're almost around the 100m mark. and let's not forget alves' paycheck (certainly an improvement over cuadrado), pogba's rumored improved contract, with personal costs already at around the 70% mark of the whole budget, it's just... just too much for a singe mercato. not the trademark beppe stuff we got to know so far.

When you put it in your way, yes. But it would not be wrong to say we'd pay 55, not 65
If we spend an extra 35 mio on him the final cost of the operation will be 55 mio. If we pay 35 mio extra now we will invest 65 mio in Morata. What we already spend on him is a sunk cost and it should never be taking into consideration when making investment decision, and that is what we are talking about here. If we spend 35 mio on Morata that is 65 mio allocated from this summers budget to this investment, not 55 mio.

Is that how it would show up in the account books?

Morata has not gotten the chance like Dybala did IMO. IN the first season he had to duck it out with Llorente until he got his deserved chance in the 2nd half of the season. In this one he was fuckep up mentally at the beggining and his slump lasted too long. Also mandzu presented a challenge for him

Dybala came here without anyone in front of him so he had the chances to show his thign right away. Imagine if we signed Dybala with tevez still around?. He would surely have gotten maybe half the chances naturally.
I call BS, Morata played 2 seasons and his inconsistencies and inability to be bona-fide stud near weekly game changer is on him, not others. Dybala unlike Morata showed there is no doubt whatsoever who is the main guy since his first games, and he kept his place by consistently making the difference. Morata in reverse regressed as in despite the headstart of a season he lost his spot by not being reliable enough starter.

Don't make excuses for him, hope he improves instead, but Dybala defenitely superior.

I'll tell you what. I'd pay that price if Morata promised to stay on his feet during every challenge for the rest of his career.
Too true, this guy has the needed qualities, but needs the fighting spirit /mentality and decision making of a top tier striker to get all the way.

The oly way it could be done is if we do a lot of sales, including Zaza who could be sacrificed if we get to that point.

Asa, Pereyra, hernanes, Zaza....if those leave, maybe, just maybe, we will consider heavy spending.

Why would we need Berardi if we keep Morata and all of our attackers?
Maybe Zaza is going out if Morata stays...IMO.

You are comparing the 2, when i was not doing that. What i say is, that not taking into account their abilities.... one of them had to dug it out with not one but 3 strikers in LLorente ,Zaza and Mandzukic....while the other had a free pass to show how good he was. No one was contesting Dybala´s spot because he was directly replacing Tevez.

Dybala did wonderfully, but the fact is that he was the only SS in the team...while Morata who is a CF, had Llorente, mandz and Zaza along his Juve stay. That counts because he was inevitable going to not have the same mins ad Dybala did.
