Rich. Rich is the word you are looking for. A team asks for a figure and they say "ok", Woodward at United is a totally useless negotiator, United fans know it but they don't much care because they can afford to overpay for everyone. It's only if a player fails that it becomes an issue, which is quite a long list in recent years.

And neither of these two players are world class who they are signing.
Who have we actually overpaid for since Woodward took over?

Falcao - loan
Zlatan - free
ADM - came of a world class season and a great showing at the world cup
Martial and Memphis - hyped youngsters
Herrera and Fellaini - release clause
Romero - peanuts
Schweini - 9m, neither good or bad for a proven veteran IMO
Lindelof - 35m for a 22 year old highly rated CB (Van Djik is valued at 70m for comparison)

We are bad at selling and the wages we give for squad players are inexcusable, but we haven't overpaid for anyone except Schneiderlin, and now potentially Morata. Pogba can still live up to his fee, has to fix his mentality but all the tools are there. Perisic isn't even a confirmed transfer yet. The state of this forum.

Like I said, Depay and Martial were/are wonder kids. Martial before Mbappe was touted as France's future as early as 17 and Depay led PSV to a title. Fellaini was a release clause, can't do nothing about it. You're right about Shaw though, actually forgot about him still playing for us.

Also add Bailly to the list of bargain deals. Dude was a revelation and should be our first choice CB for the next 10 years.

Just realized Real will have sold two players for a combined fee of €140 million. Morata to United for 70 and James to PSG for 70

They can buy whoever the fuck they want

A United fan sticking up for Woodward? Great. I guess the FM transfers will win enough over in time.

Fellaini £27.5m (RC), Mata £38m, Herrera £30m (RC), Di Maria £63.75m, Shaw £32m, Martial £51m +bonuses, Schneiderlin £29.75m, Depay £29m, Bailly £32m, Pogba £90m.

Obviously stick on another 15-20% to those fees for €uros, which is how most of the forum usually reads transfer prices.

You pay the top price for every big signing you make. What is the guy negotiating here?

I don't really know how good Lindelof is, but €35m is standard whenever you buy from Benfica or Porto these days. The market is also distorted now because of the Pogba deal. A €25m-€30m player is now €40m. €50m is now €75m.

It's just another way to say we're made of money, we can buy anyone if we really wanted to. Justifying transfer fees is so a thing of a past for United fans. Arrogant fucks.

I hear it all the time how they are going to buy Dybala next from us and how we are their farm club.

What a waste of talent really, like a loaded old man who buys a €6000 DSLR and only shoots in auto mode, because he has no clue how to use it.

Well yea, that too. Though it all stems from the amount of sway they have on triggering market moves too. It's one thing to pay whatever the asking price is, it's another that player aspiration aligns with the buying club too. Can't see too many other teams pick up the likes of Pogba, Ibra and Mkhi in a non CL season. Money doesn't buy you that.

You have an average net spend of 91 million euro over the last 5 seasons, and your team is weak as shit compared to european giants. Seriously, you cant even finish top4, behind pool, tottenham and arsenal.

Lets take a look :

12/13
Powell : 6mil
Kagawa : 12mil
Van Persie : 22mil
Zaha : 15mil
13/14
Fellaini : 27.5 mil
Mata : 37mil
14/15
Herrera : 29mil
Shaw : 27mil
Rojo : 16mil
Di Maria : 60mil
Blind :14mil
15/16
Depay : 25mil
Darmian : 12.7 mil
Schneiderlin : 24mil
Martial : 35mil
16/17
Bailly : 30mil
Mhkiryatan, : 30mil
Pogba : 89mil

Prices are in pound
