They didn't sign Rolando yet, But it's says that AVB wants to sign him and Alex is not part of his plans so he could leave.

So this move kind of depends on whether Chelsea sign Rolando or some other defender. Although this is all just speculation that we've got Villas-Boas not wanting Alex might be a good start for now.

I was thinking the same thing but I guess there'd be a wage issue in signing both. The old Juve would and could have done it but not this one.

I prefer him in the centre, but most of us do, because we've got Barza and Bonnucci to fall back on. Im sure Alex-Lugano would be seriously sturdy to give us the Chiellini option. I think it'll massively improve our game, espesh in a 424. Unlikely to happen, but still.

True. It really depends on what kind of deal Marrotta can pull with them wage wise though. If they both want massive increments to their existing salaries, espesh Alex, then it seems like it defi itely won't happen.

I have rated chiellini as world class for a few years now. Bonucci has very little experience in the top flight, and was fucked up by every game that Motta played next to him and every game that Grosso played next to Chiellini. Lugano??? He is a natural born leader, a history of winning, a history of gaining respect from team-mates and fans alike wherever he has played, and recently was voted the best captain at the coppa america...yes, i think he brings something world class. Alex??? a decent, dependable player, but hardly a massive improvement over Bonucci...

So, really, what is your point, or your 'case' as you put it?

Chiellini next to bonucci, with lich and ziegler/ de ceglie, will be fine. Swap bonucci for lugano or alex, and we are even more solid...
