But Alex from Chelsea's bench to most likely Real Madrid's bench doesn't make sense.

I hope he uses his head and goes where he'll get playing time, be that us or Bayern.
doesn't have to be that way - a team like Real M needs 3 WC CBs at any moment. Right now they have only Carvalho and Pepe (who I don't rate much btw) who fit that profile, the rest are nothing but 'filler'.
Actually, I'd say signing another top CB is a must for Real M, given Carvalho is 33 yo already.

With the likely scenario of Pepe being often played at CM, Alex could well be a starting player for them.

Real won't move for him, Mou said that now they only need a Striker.
They have Pepe, Carvalho, Farane, Albiol and Ramos all can Play CB.

I believe that Alex would be a significant upgrade to Bonucci and that would have upgraded our team, more than 15mil upgrades of Vidal for Melo or Vucinic for Quaq
It is really sad that every single year we give priority of fine tuning our CMs and SSs, instead of our defense...
We are turning into a poor's man Real Madrid, we have the same stupid mentality they had, but without the insane amounts of cash to overcome this handicap, with the best players of the world all working against it, nor the only league in the world who can forgive a systematical negligence in the defense matters...

Alex is awesome,he is still recovering from the injury he had last season if i recall correctly, cos he didnt play when he came to Malaysia and had a separate training session with a physio all the time..
So that could be the reason why Chelsea may want to sell this backup, but If it was up to me, I would go for Branislav,he would be a much better option I believe, and younger..
1 Serb on each line.. Awesome!

I'd say it hinges on Chelsea's willingness to release him and whether Juve is ready to pay his fee up-front - 13-15 mil most likely. If yes, then I think you have very good chances of getting Alex. However, if you are looking for a loan with an option only, then I think he'd most likely end up at Bayern or Real, which are the other two teams rumoured to be after him.
Bayern already confirmed they will not sign anyone else this window after missing out on Vidal, Alex was linked as an alternative to Jerome Boateng earlier at the season. Real wont move for Alex as well, if they wanted they would already moved for him and Mourinho has mentioned they are looking for a striker . I think Marotta is asking for a loan with an option to buy so that he can save the money right now to pump in the LW or maybe he isn't entirely convinced by Alex. A loan with an option to buy is a good deal if you ask me, we can at least say no at the end of the season and not stuck with the player something like Aquilani, but it depends entirely on Chelsea's willingness. Though i agree that he isn't the leader in defense that we are looking for. Actually playing next to Terry made him look good, when Terry was injured Alex and Ivanovic partnership was not anywhere near impressive.

Have always been a big fan of his. Touted him to become one of the best cb's, at PSV, which he already was at the time. Would be one hell of signing.

Alex - Chiellini.

Would have preferred a CB who could lead the defense with his style of play, but beggars can't be choosers and I will welcome Alex with both hands wide open if he was to come here.

By the way, are there any real links to Alex?
Tuttosport is not good enough for you,

Chelsea don't want to loan, 10 - 13mil,

Options:

1. Spend cash on a CB, See if we can loan or trade for a LM

2. Spend cash on a LM, Get Lugano for free or cheap

Well you can count Sergio Ramos in that list too :p

Yes, Mourinho will most likely be changing his system and I believe he liked Pepe in his new role as a destroyer infront of the defence. Reports are suggesting Coentrao was bought for the right back positon whilst Marcelo should be keeping his starting place. But, yes, they are somewhat short of resources at the back. I believe Varane will be loaned out to gain some experience in La Liga first. So in my opinion they will move for a top centre back this mercato.
