Didn't Blanc participate in the mercato? Even giving the ok to Secco's picks would get him fired IMO. You can't give carte blanche to ALESSIO SECCO. You need to know a thing or 2 about football if you're Blanc.

I thought that Blanc took some part in negotiations, but it was still primarily Secco/Ranieri determining strategy.
That's my problem with Blanc: I don't think he understands football. I believe him to be a sound businessman, but that isn't really enough.

Its more of issue of being the least incompetent. Blanc is clearly a businessman and not a sporting man. Teams should have guys like him around in some capacity. However, if you have a guy like Blanc, it is absolutely essential to have a strong Sporting Director. As far as I could tell, Blanc simply undertook negotiations and completed plans that were put in place by Ranieri/Secco.
I think they got it into their heads that Secco actually learned something from Moggi.
They also got it into their heads that Ranieri is a top tier coach, because he happened to muddle in good teams before they became great.
Exorcise those demons, put in some quality football minds, and having Gigli and Blanc will be fine.

Juve was talking with Xabi, so there must be a person who had the idea to bring Xabi, but if Ranieri doesnt want Xabi, what can Secco do? Probably Blanc supported Ranieri in this case and ....
Also, Secco brought some good players. And I remember an article in Tuttosport with all the summer transfers over the years... And every year there were TOP players and BAD players...
It's hard to make 3 or 4 TOP transfers...
