more than anything, we needed another solid defender for this season, but the clowns running this team are going with an injury-prone Legro and "stumbles" BUMsong as backups

Criscito and Andrade may or may not be the answer- one is young and unproven while the other is not at the top of my list as a top defender

Will not signing a big name defender or wasting 14 million on an average Portuguese midfielder be the mistake of the season ??

Time will tell...

I'm with you on We Need Another Defender but i will still defend the "clowns".
I think we did try to get rid of Boumsong and Legro but no one wanted them or they didnt want to leave Juve. We cant blame the board for not selling them.
We also did try to get another defender. But who were we going to get ?
We obviously needed someone who will improve our back-line and who wont be just a temporary solution with a price tag of 15 millions, like Meira.
Cannavaro didnt want to leave Madrid , the best defenders were out of our reach since all of them play in big teams with higher ambitions than us.

We were forced to pick someone who's not classy defender and we didnt want to pay big money for someone like Meira.

I think the board did good in this case. January is in 4 months. If the situation is critical then we'll be forced to buy someone, even if we overpay for an average defender. If it works ok with the ones we have now, then we can buy some world class defender next summer when hopefully we'll be in CL and we will be able to afford to buy some of the best players.

Passing a judgement on our market moves 1 game into a season is very shortsighted, as is already labeling Tiago as average despite just playing his 1st 90 minutes in a competitive match for Juve a few days ago.

Take a look at our roster, do you think we are a few players short of really threatening for the scudetto...or even more realistically a CL spot ??

Lazio and Fiorentina will be tough until the end for that last spot, and I hope Secco made the right moves...which I am not convinced of at this moment

And as far as Tiago goes, I dont really care what he did at Lyon, I barely remember him at Chelsea, and so far, in the pre-season and the few games he's taken part in, he hasnt impressed me one damn bit

I remember Neddy having some difficulties when he first came here from Lazio, but he always showed promise...even at his worst moments in that first season

Tiago better get his shit together NOW !!!

lazio did it last season with a thinner squad and a bad first term of the season.I know this year is very different and bringing a defender would be ideal.

However look at the positive side, the management are not just throwing money on the situation like other teams do, and hope it all works out. They are sticking to their guns and showing faith in the squad they assembled.

About Tiago, neddy himself says he had a dreadful six months when he first came to Italy and we all know how neddy's personality and determination. Tiago needs time, simple as that. From all of our new players all the ones that better are the ones that played in Italy(bar Andrade), both brazzo and Tiago didn't play up to their potential yet. Italian football is really hard and the only thing Tiago especially needs is time since hes in a more sensitive position than brazzo, grygera and Andrade

As you said, time will tell. I see no problem. With Boumsong, Legro and Chiellini or Grygera we have a lot back ups. Lets just wait and see, but I have to agree. I would have liked Boumsong to leave.

Keeping Olivers is one of the worst things that Juve did since 15 years.

Again, I have to suggest paying him his salary while he's staying at home. It will be more useful for the club.

I agree our squad is far from complete , but buying more than 10 players in one season no matter how good will result in complete failure .
The management got it all wrong in the summer , if they paid a little more they could have gotten better players that could have been very decisive . But right now , buying anyone would be meaningless .

The players we got so far have actually shown some promise .
Iaquinta - I never liked him but he's proving to be very enthusiastic and hungry for goals .
Almiron - This guy is amazing , a true controller of the midfield . He has great passing , shooting , control , vision . etc.. He looks very promisiing so far .
Criscito - Very impressed by him , he's solid and very mature for his age . He has the potential to become a great leader of juve's defense .
Andrade - Also very solid , makes a few mistakes , and is a powerful player . His only problem is that he's a little slow but his experience makes up for that .
Sali - I haven't been to impressed by him , but he runs a lot and puts a lot of effort , he could be very helpful in the wings when he finds his form .
Grygera - Haven't seen much from him but he seems like a quiet player that's good defensively but weak offensively .
Tiago - I expected a lot more from him , for 14 million we could have gotten someone much better . But I honestly believe he could give a lot more than he has shown and that his best days are ahead of him . Maybe he needs time to adjust to Italian football and the lifestyle it's not that easy .

Like I said somewhere else, We need a leading defender, but we will do fine till January!
Buying a lot of players is plain stupid, there is another transfer window in January. Let the new players adapt to the team for a couple of months, introduce one or two more in January according to the need and then make a couple of major signings next season to prepare to fire up all engines. I think what Secco did this transfer campaign is smart, you simply cannot bring in eight new players all at the same time; then expect them to perform at full potential. However, shortsight makes you think otherwise.

if ur a romantic u will think Juve will win but life isnt always so romantic!

As for signing another defender would have been a nice idea at the end if they thought they couldnt get world class they would hold off until the market re opens. Fair enough lets just c how it pans out.
