There was nothing he could do, he got no service or anything.
I'm glad to read this stuff from you, W

You're gonna be frustrated as fuck with this place when they have a go at Llorente for not showing up or for not scoring (when a huge part of the problem lies with the lack of service from midfield). But rest assured: I'll help out when that time comes!

A striker that can't make a simple deviation of the ball to one of his teammates.
Put a sock in it!

This again? :howler:

He didn't have a good match, but none of our strikers did.

Our main problem, though, was in midfield. Pirlo and Marchisio in particular were awful. Try being a striker with that happening.
Jem, the situations where he should've controlled the ball almost consistently lead to a counter attack because he just couldn't do it.

I've been an avid supporter of Matri in here, but he was shit today.

So what's the problem with people having a go at him? This should be going on in 8 threads right now, they were that bad most of them.
There are people in here, who compare him to a freakin' tree :D

And I defend him always. He's like a son to me :touched:

Well, a little brother is probably more fitting.

If he could trap the ball better... that would be great.
Honestly, it wouldn't have made a difference tonight. He couldn't play to his strengths, a game based entirely on movement, because there was nothing going on behind him. You can't blame a CF when he spends most of the match chasing the ball off an opponent's foot.

We all know Matri's first touch is pretty bad, so it was unfortunate that we had to rely on him to play 'trap the ball' , 'hold up the ball' or whatever the fuck we tried. We did not play to Matri's strengths, so it's pretty unfair to bash him. I think Conte got the tactics wrong, and I think our midfield was shit. Except for Vidal.

His lack of ball control was me-esque. And it caused direct counter attacks when our players were moving in the opposite direction. If he could only keep the ball for one or two more seconds... that would be great.

Or if Conte before the match could foresee that it would happen, and instead play 4-5-1, that would be even better

That's fair, I'm just pointing out that some of your criticism towards Matri can be directly attributed to Conte's tactical choices. But whatever, I do agree that Matri didn't have a good match.
