You can blame the forwards if they can't controll the ball, make a simple pass, gain fouls, take pressure off the defence, no one is talking about them creatiing chances, because it would be impossible for such limited players to create something, only thing they needed to do is hold to the ball wait a couple of second and make a simple pass, fall to get a foul.
Thet are so lucky they are playing for Juve in such high level, they'll struggle to make squad in any of europe finest team.

They don't seem fine to me lately, he's a decent finisher for me but a finisher at Juve should still be able to hold on ball and control it well enough not Del Piero style but to some point manage to hold and rotate the pass.
I do find it very poor that a player playing a CL QF cannot control the ball properly. Matri doesn't want the ball with his back to goal trying to link play, but still he should be able to control the ball and give it to someone better. That is standard centre forward play.

I also dislike them trying their dummy run routine in this sort of game. I know that came off against Inter thanks to a great goal from Quag, but that is the sort of thing you do with more possession. You defend from the front, and when your midfield is not stacked with physical presence you have to protect them.

Our defence hasn't been as good as it has based on just the back three or back five, it's the whole shape of the team. It doesn't matter the individuals, if you leave them exposed against quality they will look silly.

@Azzurri7: I think the point you're trying to make, could be better supported on a night where what you're saying actually happens. I just feel on the evidence of what happened last night, all of us are looking for scapegoats when the truth of the matter is that we were outplayed, and more importantly, outclassed.

Im willing to blame our tactics for this, but our issues seemed more psychological. I don't see Conte changing the 352 and I think we'll give a better account of ourselves in the 2nd leg even if we don't go through. Clearly, we'll be better prepared mentally.

Sad that he can't controll a football. Even I has better controll then him, sell him asap.

I like the guy, but let's be honest, he is not good enough. At best a good sub player, but for top matches in Europe no, not even close

The Juventus jersey is too heavy for the majority of our starting 11 simple as that. Only four players are worthy of wearing our jersey at this level and beyond in the champions league.

I like Matri, I think he's a good striker but his performance yesterday was poor, yes he didnt get a lot of chances but he had over 3 chances to simply control the ball or pass it and he wasn't even capable of doing that, yes Bayern were pressing us but still..its no excuse.

He's good but not CL material

This is why we need all around exceptional strikers and forwarads who can play anywhere on the offensive department if needed.

The times when we could have the luxury of having a Trezeguet who doest shit whole game but is there to poach a goal are long gone.

We need complete strikers who can do it all, and when i say do it all i mean that they can dribble if needed, or track back a defender to get a ball, or cross, or gain space for a run and soak pressure...to be able to act with his back to goal and create things out of nowhere... to be able to hustle with players and win the ball.

That type of modern footballers is what we need. Strikers that can act even as an extra midfielder if things go ugly

Fuck I love over-reactions like this.

One loss against possibly the best (and definitely most in-form team in Europe) and suddenly the majority of our team suck and are unworthy of Juventus.

Yeah you can...try holding the ball up. they offered nothing. Actually I think they are alot to blame for Pirlos bad performance
No, Pirlo was responsible for his own poor performance. Worst on the field by a mile (along with Marchisio). I love both of them, but lets not blame the strikers - - who both sucked in their own right - for Pirlo's unintelligent and lethargic play.

Mandzukic did what Matri and Quag failed to do, harass and press our midfielders, and particularly Pirlo. Obviously, our midfielders failed to provide the necessary support to our strikers, but the strikers themselves failed in terms of movement, and coming back to press Bayern's midfield, and in trying to win back the ball a la Mandzukic.
