Juve seal Matri deal
Juventus have reportedly agreed a deal with Cagliari to keep striker Alessandro Matri in Turin.

The new Italian international arrived at Juve on loan in January with an option to buy fee fixed at €15.5m.

After a series of talks between the two clubs, it is being suggested that a compromise has been reached.

Juve will hand over an undisclosed amount of money plus Luca Marrone, Cristian Pasquato and Ciro Immobile for the forward.

Matri, formerly of Milan, was a massive success at the Stadio Olimpico after he scored nine goals in 16 games for the Bianconeri.

Although the deal has yet to be officially confirmed, Pasquato is already talking like a Rossoblu player.

“I’m hearing the news from you,” he told Sportitalia. “It will be an honour to play in Serie A with Cagliari. I’m extremely satisfied.”

Pasquato, a product of the club’s youth system like Marrone and Immobile, spent this term on loan in Serie B with Modena.

Coaching him last season, I think Conte have a clear idea about the potential of Marrone. If he has a great potential, he would ask Marotta not to sell him permanently.

How can you tell without giving them a fair shot? Even a Giovinco doesn't get a fair shot at Juve. It's a shame, we don't trust in the very foundations we lay for the future. Marrone, Pasquato and the like only need time to develop, if given the right environment, they could earn a name for themselves. It's really all about having the patience to nurture young talent. Had we done that, the last five years instead of wasting our energies on reclaiming the scudetto by changing 7 coaches, we would've been in the CL this season, with a fairly solid core of players. And a much brighter future than we currently have, which unfortunately is now linked to the amount of money we spend in the mercato and how well we spend it.

Squad depth.

What the fuck can Pazienza do that Marrone/Ekdal wouldn't be able to? Let's not even get into how much more we would be paying Pazienza versus the other two.

Bad business either way you look at it. Another long term investment gone sour.

That's the problem, we aren't the right environment, not now as a big club striving to return and not in the past as a successful big club. But either way you look at it, these guys aren't going to turn into Messi or Xavi no matter how much you play them. Juventus only had one young player that good in their youth team and that was Del Piero.

Besides, we have given more opportunity for youth now than we ever did when we were more successful. The purpose of a youth team is generally to provide players for the first team. But now at any high level you're lucky if 5% stay at their club and play, the rest are used a makeweights or to free up aggregated cash. I don't disagree with this system as such, but at each club there should be more emphasis to give youth a chance if possible. For example what is the thinking behind signing Pazienza on a free when there is Marrone? But then Marotta signs Gabriel, so maybe it's a lack of confidence in individual players.
