These sort of players have been bought before (Bianchi, Silenzi, Corradi), but there are two reasons; they are usually expensive in comparison to their ability and what you could get from France, Netherlands etc, and their style suits Italian football far better than others. I don't see many or even any teams in England or Spain who use those sort of players. More technical in Spain, more athletic in England, as a general rule.
Look at the top four ranked leagues, most of the players in their national teams play in their domestic league, it's no coincidence. It's only in countries with a national league that isn't capable of hosting the top players from the national team that the players all move abroad, starting from France down.
