your german actually could be a bit better.. at least for a dutchman having gone to german classes for five years. but still, its pretty decent.

but martin's efforts to learn italian are quite remarkable. coming from a language that's not too close to italian. respect.

I wonder if he'll ever beat with us his 14 goals in 1 season record he set in serie C1. Probably not. He'll be another "never was and never will be good player" and another one who'll make us hope that he'll suddenly become what he never was, just to end up disappointed that he didn't beat all the odds and he remained a mediocre player.

I have no doubts that from next year he'll be nothing but a burden on our wage bill, but I hope that at least the bare move to a big club will get 101% from him RIGHT NOW and with some 7-8 goals till the end of the season he helps us get the 4th spot.

At least he might get a cap or two for Italy. That's very important.
People said the same about Quagliarella, nobody knows how he will turn out some thrive in a big club, some crumble.

I don't know if you're Dutch or not but it get's often said/pronounced like that since I'm living here. It's not a very common name I think but my full firstname is even worse. The only silver lining is that Buffon is named the same :D
Yay, so I made the same mistake that Dutch people make. I'm pretending to be Dutch. When I'm not pretending to be Italian or French.

I've been planning on learning to speak Italian for a while now but I'm not sure of which method be be optimal. I thought about buying those CD's that make you repeat sentences; I even thought about buying an Italian-English dictionary, but I never really got to it.

How are you doing it? Is it working? Any advice?

I simply disagree. If you've seen a player enough it is your right to comment on his future. It's once again all the negative comments that are targeted while nobody has a problem with saying he'll do well.
While I agree that one can guess that I find it ridiculous to totally write off someone, some players always need a change of environment to excel, as to flop.

I'm catiously optimistic about this move, just like I was with Iaquinta. Essentially, I see him as a less aggressive version of Yak. Hopefully he ends up performing a bit better.

I just started visiting this site. Not sure if it's the right way though.

We sign many players with the hope that they will do much better than they did in their entire career, even though those players are 26,27,28. Coaches too, not just players.
It might work once in 50 cases. We can't allow paying for 49 players who'll give us mediocrity, just so one will surprise and do better than expected. 27 year olds won't suddenly become great when they put the Juve jersey on.

Also, a comparison between Quag and Matri isn't too fair. Quagliarella's main problem for years was his inconsistency. He caught the eye of many teams since he was 22-23. He was always scoring beautiful goals, always been great when in form, he had the talent and teams were actually paying 16m eur to buy him even before Juve bought him. In the past too he had great periods like he had with us in the 4 months he played for Juve. He was called by his NT coaches, played at 08 euro, 2010 WC etc.
Matri has almost nothing of the sort behind him. He's a typical Almiron signing.

Like I said, my hope and expectation is that Matri will have solid 16 rounds till June and score some 7-8 goals. I don't expect long term success from him.

I rated Quag. A lot of people just said he was an overrated Italian, but I knew he would do a great job here at Juventus.

I hope Matri can have the same success. Matri to hit 20 goals this season.

I want to be excited about something regarding Juventus. Hopefully he starts by scoring 2 goals tomorrow just like Pazzo did for Inter. Us fans need that!

Now here's a question

How come players like Pazzini, Matri, Gilardino etc. play only in Italy? That type of player isn't really noticeable in England or Spain while both are better leagues who tend to do much better in Europe.

Real, Barca, Sevilla, Villareal, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester etc. don't use those.

How come those players never left aboard and got stuck in Italy for their whole career? People were saying how Gila was wanted by foreign clubs but we'll see if he goes somewhere (he won't).
