Diamani said he'd like to play the Pirlo role.

Get the top players 1st, then if there's cash left I wouldn't mind him but would still prefer us getting prospects instead.

Free kicks and corners! :weee:

When was the last time Moggi got something right? The last two players he predicted to become greatness were Schelotto and Ricky Alvarez.

And he said that Jonathan will be the new Maicon .

But he was right about Vidal. When we signed him, he said that Vidal and Pirlo will take our midfield on a whole new level.

I would welcome Diamanti with open arms but only under certain circumstances. Marginal fee and the selling of some of our other depth.

First, there are some undeniably positive attributes that he brings to a team and that would actually help us in particular:

Modest wages. I think he earns 1M. Could be wrong.
Versatility. Can play RW, LW, CAM, SS, regista possibly.
Left-footer. Do we have one in attack? Do we have anyone that can cut in from the right? Do we have anyone to take lefty set pieces?
Workrate/desire. It's there in spades. Pepe level desire IMO. He will never quit.
Creativity. He's a bit like Mirko where you will hate him some games and love him in the others. Do we have someone with creativity up front outside of Mirko? No.
Set pieces. His left foot is a thunder bolt. Always good to have a player like that on the team.
Long shooting. Especially from the right side of the pitch. We have nothing there to trouble a defence.
I will speculate that he will accept a marginal role/good morale.

In short, to me, he is a slightly dynamic player which we lack in attack. He's unpredictable, slightly crazy but does have a decent amount of talent to go with actual desire.

If we are signing him as a catalyst or a semi "top player", forget it. If we are signing him to replace Giaccherini/Padoin then great because we will subsidize his cost with those sales. If we are signing him and selling Giovinco then we're going to have a surplus in those transactions and end up with the better player, great.

I want him as an upgrade in our depth not as an upgrade to our catalysts.

I think this game is a good example of Diamanti. Work rate is always there, makes bad decisions sometimes but can change games from outside the box in many ways which is needed against packed defenses.

Another good thing about his (imminent, some say) arrival is that he's friends with everybody on the team. Good to have these types on the team, so long as they come cheap.
