Andy has spoke alot of sense over the years, some of the new guys should actually listen to what he says because he's been right alot of the time, even though at times I don't agree with him. Clever man on football matters.

I'm hoping Krasic turns out to be good, but whether or not he's an upgrade to an in-form Camo is not certain.
I understand some of your concerns, but Krasic and a healthy Aquilani alone would be a pretty big upgrade to our midfield... and it's really been quite awhile since we've seen a match fit, in form Camo.

Pepe will be useful, Lanzafame is a project, but he has some potential. I also think that Melo will rebound this year, and put in some solid performances... our midfield is looking pretty good, actually. Much better than the midfield we saw yesterday. Maybe Jorge 'The Solution' Martinez will solidify that other wing spot for us... :xfinger:

I would answer yes to all four of Sergio's points. Our fullbacks still scare the shit out of me though...

If we could get Tremoulinas, our attack would be freakin' awesome. But again, there are significant issues at RB still, and the depth along our entire back line is currently pretty damn poor. Celia and Motta have a ton of work to do before they deserve to be 1st choice players... although it looks like they may end up in those roles anyway (especially Motta).

In general I agree with most of the things you discussed about Juve lately. But I want to ask you what did you mean by YES and NO when you answered Sergio's second question?

Was the NO for the depth or for the "younger, quicker, more athletic"?

I think that we are indeed younger, quicker and more athletic, with "quicker" being the most important thing here. We were so slow and we moved pathetically last year. I think that this team has more speed and, hopefully, with time it will learn to move smartly on the pitch.
Looking from that aspect I think there is improvement.

In many other fields we need drastic improvement though if we want to get back among Euro top 10.
The no was for the depth. We might have more players than last season, but when I think of depth I think of suitable players who can come in and do a good job as cover. Of course, the one thing we have to hold constant in this is that the regular starter is good enough, which isn't the case in a few positions.

We have become more athletic, but again, I'm more interested in skill. We have had athletic players during the last few seasons like Sissoko, DC, Brazzo, and others, but they aren't quality. Now we bring in Pepe. OK, but where is the quality?

Overall, I'm happy about Bonucci, Krasic and Aquilani if he stays healthy. I'm not happy about bringing in Lanza for Seba, spending 12 for Martinez, not getting a serious upgrade to the RB spot, along with other loan and co-own deals which I don't approve of.

If we manage to get a solid LB and Aquilani remains healthy, Marotta will get a passing grade from me. But I don't have to say that a lot of these players could turn out to be busts.

How do you feel about Kuyt leaving then? I thought he was quite essential for Pool. And what about the links with Bryan Ruiz? I'm reading in the dutch media that a deal should be almost done..
I can see Kuyt leaving. Hodgson prefers his work horses in the middle. Though I consider Dirk a vital part of the team. Rumor is cash plus a player. All I can see is us taking Chivu or Pandev.

So far all the Kuyt stuff is speculation. A couple of journalists have denied the rumor via twitter.

Ruiz, I haven't heard anything about him since the beginning of the market. I guess he'd be a replacement for Riera or Benayoun. Scored a massive amount of goals in the dutch league but I can't say whether he would hold down a regular spot in the squad.

We have bid for Toivonen.

JCK - try this (once AA is fit to be a 1st team regular)

----------------------------Storari------------------------

Motta--------Bonucci-----------Chiellini-------Bocchetti

------------------------Marchisio-------------------------

Krasic------------------------------Aqualani-------------

------------------------------------------------------Pepe

--------------------Diego---------------------------------

---------------------------------Amauri------------------
You said Melo as defensive midfielder and Marchisio - Aquilani, I don't see what you said in this formation.

But did you know "Aquilani" is actually Italien for "wets himself"? :agree:

I've already said this, but I think it's an absolute coup for you guys. A great pick up. It's a great move for Alberto as well, but only if he gets playing time.

As for Liverpool. I am fucking pissed. I think he is ripe for a coming out party and with the lack of depth we have in the team and the amount of time we have to get a replacement (now mind you it's a loan so there is no big fee to find a replacement with) is just stupid. The guy had 2 goals and six assists last campaign and he even said he was far from his best.

If management hasn't noticed, Joe Cole is missing an entire month of football due to his red card and we are shipping his obvious replacement away in favor of who? Shelvey, Pacheco? The Jew? Oh right he's at CHELSEA!

It just doesn't seem right to show a guy, who has said multiple times this summer he wants to be at Liverpool, the door without giving him a shot.
an Roy more than anyone knows of the lack of depth, why would he not only agree but encourage Aqua to be shipped?

I would like to pose a question, adn this is the perfect place to do it, because this is the hot spot as of right now.

I would like objectivity and honesty.

#1) Is this midfield, where there was a lack of spark and creativity a lot better than it was only 48 hours ago?

#2) Is this team a younger, more athletic, quicker , and deeper squad than it was a year ago.

#3) Have there been significant gains in the transfer market , with only minimal losses?

#4) If Marotta were to acquire a quality left back and 4th CB (and don't say that he can't, because he did just acquire 2 mids in 48 hours), would you say, when looking at the roster compared to last year, on paper of course, that this is certainly a better team, with the types of players that will fit the system that the coach is looking for?
one question for you :D why martinez for 12 mil?

You forgot to factor in another wasted year, having to start all over again with those same positions next summer should those guys fail.

I'm still thinking about the long term.
Look, dude, you know me, and my policy on short term gratification vs long term satisfaction.

If there is anyone here that champions a full on youth movement, its yours truly. But juventus is in a unique conundrum.

They are a prestigious team, with high expectations every year, that right now, unfortunately, do not have the budget to simply throw money at a problem, nor do they have a fanbase who, sad to say, is willing to suffer a couple of years with a full on youth movement in order to see a long term dynasty.

Trust me, I would love to see Juve with a bunch of young stars on the team. I was screaming for that the moment they got sent down to Serie B. The champions that would have stayed behind anyway, combined with a young, fresh squad, would have been more than enough to gain promotion, and in the process have the extra advantage of giving young players a full season of acclimation to the juventus Project.

I was extremely unhappy with the fact that they didn't cash in on some players who were waffling when they had the chance to.

Juve is not Genoa, they are not Palermo, they are not Udinese.

They are juventus, and with that comes a certain expectation.

But reality being what it is, the severe financial backlash from what happened is still affecting the team even today, although each year, things get just a little better on the financial front, and I feel that the quality will continue to come through year after year, and by the time they are ready to move into that new stadium, boy, watch out, because Juve will be back, and they will once again be the pioneers of not only Serie A, but of Europe, when things were done with class, civility, and a sense of grace, from the players to the front office.
