You forgot to factor in another wasted year, having to start all over again with those same positions next summer should those guys fail.
I'm still thinking about the long term.
Look, dude, you know me, and my policy on short term gratification vs long term satisfaction.
If there is anyone here that champions a full on youth movement, its yours truly. But juventus is in a unique conundrum.
They are a prestigious team, with high expectations every year, that right now, unfortunately, do not have the budget to simply throw money at a problem, nor do they have a fanbase who, sad to say, is willing to suffer a couple of years with a full on youth movement in order to see a long term dynasty.
Trust me, I would love to see Juve with a bunch of young stars on the team. I was screaming for that the moment they got sent down to Serie B. The champions that would have stayed behind anyway, combined with a young, fresh squad, would have been more than enough to gain promotion, and in the process have the extra advantage of giving young players a full season of acclimation to the juventus Project.
I was extremely unhappy with the fact that they didn't cash in on some players who were waffling when they had the chance to.
Juve is not Genoa, they are not Palermo, they are not Udinese.
They are juventus, and with that comes a certain expectation.
But reality being what it is, the severe financial backlash from what happened is still affecting the team even today, although each year, things get just a little better on the financial front, and I feel that the quality will continue to come through year after year, and by the time they are ready to move into that new stadium, boy, watch out, because Juve will be back, and they will once again be the pioneers of not only Serie A, but of Europe, when things were done with class, civility, and a sense of grace, from the players to the front office.
