People are complaining about Sissoko giving the ball away -- he does it just as much.

It's not arguable that Aquilani, Melo and Krasic were excellent, even brilliant, in one part of the season. What's strange is how all three of them suddenly stop performing. They lost confidence as Jack said.
Melo was a beast when things worked well, then he suddenly lost it and he doesn't have that confident look in his eyes, nor is he performing with confidence. Aquilani simply stopped giving a damn while Krasic is getting more and more frustrated (and more and more frustrating to us) when he sees that nothing works for him.

Your best three players to stop performing and to drop in form at the very same moment opens up lots of questions.

Personally, I'd say Aquilani was nowhere near as good, important or influential as the other 2 you mentioned. But there has been a serious drop in performances from him.

Exactly. No qualities which distinguish himself as an essential player, and even if he did have a quality he isn't fit enough to use it properly. Buffon is right in that we should get players who spit/sweat blood for the club (obviously, they have to be talented as well).

I guess you haven't seen much of him during his time with Roma ! Aquilani always been inconsistent.

He can be brilliant one game and really poor the next 2-3 games. Add the fact that he had long injuries most of his career then this would look like a really risky buy even for 12 millions.
