I agree. No reason to think it would not work.

I like to think of it as we just went from rear-wheel drive in snow to an all wheel drive with traction control ABS with a twin turbo.
It will probably work well but just like with Ciro and his 4-2-3-1 with Seba, it will be thrown away.

I still kinda think we'll use Melo a lot and Marchisio next to him.

When Aquilani is fully fit he's going to play next to Melo while we'd get to see Marchisio in the second.

then why did you question about a melo - aqua partnership?
    I don't understand?

A Melo - Aquilani partnership would be very good imo.

I think Marchisio is actually very good at winning back possession. One of his best attributes.
Are we talking about different players.

I don't find him a particularly good tackler. He's good enough for a box to box midfielder, but not enough for Juve to rely primarily for winning the ball back in midfield.

I don't think it would work without one of Melo or Sissoko.

I don't see why it wouldn't. As long as they keep their shape together and pressure the ball they should be fine.

Carrick and Fletcher aren't some sort of Sissoko, and their system works pretty well.

Even when we field Melo or Sissoko we still let the opposition through our midfield, so they are most of the time wasted out there.

Good tackler or not doesn't take away the fact that he's great at hustling and certainly no pushover. It's not as spectacular as Sissoko-tackles, but he's still an effective ball-winner. Remains to be seen if he'll form a good partnership with Aquilani or not, though.
