This is what gets on my nerves when he speaks of Islam. Rarely does he support his claims with sources and when he does and you explain the meaning behind it he just says something along the lines of "I tried to do what you're doing; trying to rationalize it but that's not how it was meant to be interpreted".
You want me to quote parts of the Quran & Hadith that say that if you dont die a muslim you'll go to hell? I have plenty but you'll have to wait till i am back in Egypt lol.

Well every time i give an interpretation you bend it into something else. You read whatever you want into scripture The biggest example is how you made Djinn the equivalent of bacteria. I doubt that any other muslims think that Djinns are bacteria. Ask the other muslim folks about this.

In Tafsir, hadiths play a major role... the events in which a verse is said and all that. you choose to ignore that. the example was the shooting stars thread.

I could read Shakespear in the Quran if i want to but i dont because yes this has nothing to do with what mohammed meant at the time.

The last sentence...tell me how Mohammed meant at the time? I don't understand when you say that.

Please, show me whatever authentic hadith you have.

Is it me or what? I never seem to get my point across to you.

I never said you had to become a devout Muslim. I said that if you have heard of Islam and chosen not to look into it (the curiousity is certainly there because everyone is always talking about it) then that's "your loss". In other words, you certainly did have the opportunity but you didn't capitalize on it. The end result doesn't need to be conversion fyi.
Anyone has the option to look into anything. That is a very far cry from a belief system that is "meant for everyone".

Don't speak of BS alarms, your little knowledge Islam is embarassing yet you love to enter into discussions about it. You don't see me mocking you.
You make a statement that isn't backed up by any facts whatsoever. I call BS. This makes you feel insulted?

Show me some shred of proof that Muslims go "the extra mile" then.

Yeah but they still smoke, apparently that's a-okay with M's teachings on how to keep your body healthy. :pumpkin:
Actually that is haram as well. Though some scholars argue it isn't, most of the Islamic scholars used analogy(one of Islams sources of legislation ) to derive that smoking too was prohibited in Islam.

Really? So which are the countries with a Muslim run government that prohibit smoking?

I've always told you, there are no Islamic governments. Only ones that use the name of the religion to their benefit and claim to be Islamic governments.

Is prostitution not haram, isn't alcohol haram?

Well most Islamic countries don't prohibit them either. Goes to prove my previous point.

Okay so if you had the power to decide, would you ban everything in accordance with the religion?

Btw do you smoke?

And btw2 what do you think of a Muslim who doesn't drink but smokes? What's the point of that?

I would ban alcohol and tobacco that is for sure. Although i would do it gradually, because i don't think its realistic to think that you can ban it at once and people will comply.

I don't smoke and i never will.

I can kind of understand some smoking, as a lot of people try to argue that it is not haram, even though they do not really have a strong basis for their argument. But Alcohol is strictly and clearly strongly prohibited in the Koran, even though i don't see the difference between them, one can easily use analogy to derive that smoking is haram and almost as bad if not worse than drinking.

Smoking is on the way out culturally, drinking is not. People your age that I have met recently don't think smoking is something you do. But the drinking culture is strong as ever. Personally I still think smoking is worse because most people drink responsibly whereas even the most casual smoker I would kick the f out of my house for his disgusting habit.

Can't make my mind up about what is worse, though i don't think there is any worse scene than seeing a person drunk. Its an extremely ugly scene if you ask me.

Are you talking about Burke's youtube videos? :D

No, but seriously I'm not so much shocked by it, I just think it's pathetic. The drinking culture, that is. I think it says a lot about us that so many seem to need an escape from their horrible lives because they're just not worth living sober.
