Yea I think we Iranians owe your people as well as the people of Palestine a big apology for what our government has done to you. They are indeed the root of all problems in the middle east.
Okay, I forgive you:smile:

Well I'm not religious anymore but I was born in a Shi'a family so I was practicing Shi'a instructions for most of my life.
I understand. But I still think that you cannot say you're not Shi'a anymore. If that's the case then you're not Muslim including myself because we're not practicing it anymore. And if this theory applies on other things like Nationalities then there's no identity or whatsoever in this world.

It's a little strange from a European perspective though.

Muslims: Sunni, Shi'a etc etc
Christians: Catholic, Protestant, Ortodox etc

For us here these only have religious meaning, not ethnic. So even if my parents are Catholic, i'm not a Catholic since i'm not religious.
Interesting. Never heard such a thing TBH. In Romania, majority of people for example are not religious yet they tell whether they're Catholics or Orthodox.

If this case/theory also applies on Nationalities for example, then I can not say about myself Lebanese because I don't live in Lebanon(not living in homeland, not sharing love with my own people there, paying taxes etc theoretically) and I will be considered Romanian no?

I find being religious something and having an identity something else if you ask me.

Didn't know its Arabic name

My university is located at a place where most of people in the neighborhood are doing Tatbir in Ashura. Last time police tried to prevent them from doing it but they attacked the police with their swords
That sounds like Chinese comedy :D

Well I don't consider myself a Muslim either because I'm simply not being categorized as a Muslim. You need to practice Islam to be called a Muslim. When you don't, you are not one. It's clearly different from your nationality. You can't change the fact that you have been born to Lebanese parents, so you are always a Lebanese wherever you go. Even it depends on your definition of nationality.

And also, he still feels Lebanese.
He can live in the end of the world and not visit Lebanon ever again, but if he feels Lebanese, then that's what he is.

I think whats more important than practice is belief. If you believe in one god, his prophet, his books, etc. Then you are a muslim, even if you are not a practicing one. Loads of muslims don't pray, fast, refrain from drinking, refrain from sex etc. But they are still muslims.

Never heard of someone get killed from tatbeer in Kuwait , Bahrain or Saudi .

You aren't supposed to kill yourself .
You aren't but anything could happen.

That sounds like Chinese comedy :D
It did sound like a Chinese comedy

Police just can't mess with them but when it comes to some normal people protesting in the streets for their rights, it's the easiest thing for the police to quell their voices.

Fair enough. Really fair. Though I don't totally agree because then again no one practice Islam correctly(but very very VERY few), therefore by your theory no one is a Muslim. Same with Christianity.

But come and think of it, no one thinks this way, to your relatives, friends, to worlds statistics, to outsiders you're considered Muslim whether you practice it or not. The only person that you can convince is yourself but then again you might not totally believe that you're no more Muslim because of the reasons that I mentioned.

If you believe in Qoran, you must pray and fast. If you believe in Sunnah, you must refrain from drinking and premarital sex or else you can't consider yourself a Muslim.

Those Muslims you mentioned are Muslim because their parents were Muslims.

At least you can protest. Here police will do the same, and even worse when you think of protesting. I never saw someone here protest in my lifetime btw, not kidding, serious :D

But i know lots of people that do not pray at all. They believe in Qur'an and everything, they even admit that they're wrong in not practicing, but still they do not pray, they drink and they have sex. I'd say a big chunk of Arab and Muslim youth are like that. You could call them muslims with weak faith, but to say they're not muslims is a bit far fetched.

Yeah many people think so, but the question is if it's right or wrong? I don't know to be honest. But many knowledgeable people in islam says that if you not pray you are not a muslim, but it's a hard question.

If you believe in God why not pray? it takes about 30 minutes of your day :p, it's not much time..

Yeah you are absolutely right, many have the belief but they do bad things. Inshallah they will begin to pray and turn away from the bad things.

It takes less than 30 minutes.

Going by that logic, we wouldn't have many muslims left, would we?

A big chunk of the muslim youth right now do not pray consistently.
